Volatility. Uncertainty. Complexity. Ambiguity (VUCA). These are the defining moments for modern-day organizations. Do you allow the culture to become toxic and implode from within? Should people underperform because the status quo doesn’t require risk-taking? Will the next generation of employees quit quietly? Or can you make inclusive excellence a hallmark of engagement, leadership, and improved stakeholder experiences? VUCA doesn’t wait and neither should you— get your team certified as a CDP®️ or CDE®️ and achieve inclusive excellence today: https://lnkd.in/eWjt7xg

Leadership Advisor for PE-backed companies | Executive search | Due diligence | Performance acceleration | 94% success rate
When effective, diverse teams can produce great results. However, studies show that they can be equally ineffective if they aren’t functioning well. This article by Randall S. Peterson, Professor of Organisational Behaviour at London Business School offers valuable insights and key takeaways for leaders and team members alike. 👉 Firstly, trust is paramount. Differences in trust levels among team members can lead to misunderstandings and conflict, hurting the team's performance. Therefore, it's crucial to build and protect trust within the team, ensuring that disagreements are constructive and not personal. 👉 Secondly, beware of coordination failures. Keep in mind that people can use the same words but mean entirely different things. Establish clear communication channels and protocols, and address coordination issues promptly and constructively. Avoid the blame game and focus on preventing future occurrences, especially in the early stages of team formation. 👉 Lastly, have a clear decision-making process. In a diverse team, conflict and disagreement are inevitable. However, it's important to have a fair and transparent decision-making process that ensures all voices are heard and valued. The article suggests that qualified consensus and discussion-based leadership decisions are more effective than majority rule. — Mercuri Urval is a global Leadership Advisory group. Leadership is contingent upon continuous personal and professional development, beyond traditional work-ready skills. Leaders that can navigate our dynamic places of work that thrive on thought leadership and diversity in culture are the ones that display the unique gift of cultural intelligence (CQ). From a leader’s perspective, cultural intelligence is the ability to understand, adapt to, and leverage cultural differences to lead diverse teams and organizations successfully. It involves understanding the norms, behaviors, and expectations of different cultures, including national, ethnic, organizational, generational, and other group cultures, and adjusting one's leadership approach accordingly. Please join us to hear Kevin S. Groves, Ph.D. and learn about what it means to build cultural intelligence. Kevin will discuss: − Why our globalized world requires leaders to adapt a new approach to work differently with teams, clients, and partners from diverse cultural backgrounds. − Given the emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, leaders with high CQ can create a work environment where unconscious bias is mitigated so that employees from various backgrounds and generations feel valued and can contribute their best. − Leaders with cultural intelligence are better equipped to navigate and resolve conflicts, preventing them from escalating and affecting team dynamics. − Leaders with cultural intelligence are more successful in organizations seeking to expand internationally, because they understand local market dynamics, effective marketing strategies, and the importance of building mutually beneficial relationships. In addition, Kevin, will be joined by Missy Pitman, MAOL, UCI's Division of Continuing Education Director of Corporate Education to provide an overview of UCI’s Global Leadership Program, that is designed specifically to help learners build and develop their cultural intelligence skills. RSVP for this free webinar at https://lnkd.in/g8XjfTzq #globalleadership #culturalintelligence #brilliantpeople Tanya Zabalegui Amy Gleason, M.A. Jay D. Missy Pitman, MAOL Brian Breen, MA Kevin S. I was fortunate to participate in this program in 2019-2020 it was truly one of the most engaging and meaningful educational experiences of my career. I highly recommend it. Applications are due next week. About Champions for Change: In Champions for Change, leaders from across the social sector can grow in their abilities to lead from their values. Champions will uncover the implicit and explicit ways race has impacted their lived-experiences. They'll practice dialogue across diverse aspects of identity. And they'll conspire with others to spur change towards racial co-liberation. Champions for Change commit to a nine--month-long (9 months) intensive leadership development program. Champions meet every two to three (2-3) weeks in seven-hour (7-hour) sessions. Most sessions will take place in-person in Washtenaw County, however the program is open to leaders from across SE Michigan. Each session emphasizes building relationships, sharing stories, practicing deep listening, and skill-building. (We also make time to play and share meals together!) Through this experience, leaders will: Deepen their understanding and skills for advancing social and racial justice, equity and inclusion. Enhance their emotional skills and practices of courage, resilience and compassion to sustain justice work. Honor the wisdom and experiences of the CFC community by uplifting their knowledge and expertise. Strengthen their relationships with other justice-focused leaders across SE Michigan. Identify and upend unjust policies, practices and procedures within their spheres of influence. Create the conditions for more BIPOC leaders to grow in their leadership across sectors and industries in SE Michigan Folks that are interested can find key information about the program schedule and cost on our website. Applications will close on September 9 (09/09/24) at 9:00am. To apply, leaders can complete this application. If you have any questions, please reach out to Carly Friedrich, our director of learning communities - cfriedrich@new.org.

⏰TIME TO REGISTER: Aug 15 webinar In the last decade, the level of complexity in the workplace has increased dramatically and this has created significant challenges for leaders in their day-to-day work. VUCA is a mental model that stands for volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. The workplace environment and context that VUCA creates is one of constant change, with unclear information and outcomes, unknown variables and drivers, and a lack of clarity about the meaning of events. Unfortunately, our tried-and-true strategies such as root cause analyses and strategic planning, are insufficient tools in the complexity of VUCA, yet often they are the only strategies our organizations and systems have at their disposal. Join us on Aug 15 when Dr. Alexandra Walker returns to break down the components of VUCA and illuminate its antidote. Justice leaders use the VUCA model to better understand how they are showing up in the workplace and how to think through complex and adaptive challenges while moving forward with their vision for the future of their organization and teams. 👉Click Here to Register for this Webinar Event: https://lnkd.in/g5VsNJ26 #criminaljustice #publicsafety #probation #lawenforcement #leadership
