The recent 2024 Synapse Florida Summit, besides acting as a bridge and connector for Florida’s entrepreneurial #ecosystem and innovation community, also clearly brought home the fact that #innovation is not just a great new idea or creative spark but, more fundamentally, is a serious business management and strategy undertaking that has defined business processes that can help forge a new and better idea into an innovation that gets widely adopted by customers and changes the marketplace. In this 2024 #SynapseSummit review, I am happy to report on the substantial number of educational business and entrepreneurship sessions and entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) that were offering an unparalleled opportunity to upskill entrepreneurs throughout the course of this #Tampa #Florida event. It is important to note that these kinds of resources for #entrepreneurs and #startup companies are likely available as well in your local entrepreneurial ecosystems that are being built and nurtured across this country, even in your area....You just have to go out and look for them and get yourself and your clients involved! PassMe - Finalist of Open Innovation Competition 2023 | Study Melbourne Career Catalyst Scholar | RMIT Professional Communication Student | Content Creator @thekhanhngoc
“𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄.” ˖⋆࿐໋ A few days before the RMIT Activator LaunchHUB Pitch Night on 20 June, I jotted these words down in my journal as a mental preparation. This is my fourth business pitch since my first one with the City of Melbourne Open Innovation Competition on 21 June last year. 🌱 Wow how much PassMe has developed as a team and I have grown as a person in one year. Continuing on my journal, I wrote “Of course, I’m competitive to try our best, to give the best delivery for PassMe. Yet, I know we are young, the whole team is young, and we’re determined to commit to our business. We still have blind spots, and the business has room for improvement. If we fail on Pitch Night, I have no regrets. I pushed through my best, even on my busiest, tired day. I chose to build a start-up, it’s my choice and wish so I have no complaints. 𝑰 𝒅𝒐 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒕. If we lose the prize, my ego won’t feel offended. Because I know win-lose in this start-up game doesn’t stand for my self-worth or self-identity. My values won’t be affected by PassMe’s success, and yes business values will.” PassMe didn’t win the Pitch Night, yet I won by breaking my thought pattern of seeking external validation. I can now separate the work and the person — PassMe and Ngọc. — Reflecting on the LaunchHUB journey, we tried our best to contribute to these goal-setting metrics: 🧠(1) 𝑰𝒏𝒑𝒖𝒕: participating in the LaunchHUB Program + showing up every Wednesday in the last 8 weeks, despite our other commitments with studies and daytime work. ✨(2) 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒑𝒖𝒕: creating the ACN & ABN (it was scary!) + designing the web + building the social media marketing = we dared to put our work out there even if it’s imperfect. And we can’t control the 💌(3) 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆: securing the funds is 50% of our control in the work we do, other 50% is the judges’ control decision. 🚀Competition is about whether we make our vision clear, driven by data for the judges to see. If we haven’t made it clear and seen vision together this time, it’s fine. Better next time! To be honest, I still feel regret as I could have delivered a full answer for the Q&A. Yet I won’t regret a thing about our efforts throughout the last 3 months with LaunchHUB. I’m still proud of our team’s work collectively and my effort individually. Apply what we learned to the next step — continue to build the website, validate our market and strengthen our business model. There are always opportunities & potential to grow!✨ — /) /) ପ(˶•-•˶)ଓ ♡ /づ づ Thank you to everyone who has supported and given PassMe valuable feedback and insights! Thanks for trusting PassMe. We have the solution, we have the passion, we are PassMe and we have YOU to accelerate our growth! 🌟

🚀 I am happy to share that I have successfully completed the “Strategy for Startups: From Ideas to Impact”, another certification from MIT Sloan Executive Education! Moving beyond the "one-size-fits-all" approach, the course emphasized the importance of tailored strategies for entrepreneurial success. It was centered around the idea that choice is the fundamental principle of entrepreneurship, equipping us with tools and frameworks 🛠️ to make informed decisions that can transform ideas into tangible impacts. Learning from leading experts Professor Erin L Scott and Professor Scott Stern has provided a rich, comprehensive perspective on navigating startup challenges and identifying unique market opportunities. Moreover, the strategies and insights gained are equally applicable to established corporations 🏛 seeking to diversify their business models, offering a roadmap 🗺 for innovation and competitive differentiation in new market segments. 📚 I’m also eagerly anticipating the release of Professors Scott and Stern’s new book, “Entrepreneurship: Choice and Strategy,” expected later this year. 🙏 A special thank you to all my colleagues who made this course so enriching. Their collaboration and shared insights have enriched this learning experience. Moving forward, “Check your compass, figure the direction, and proceed!” will guide my entrepreneurial journey, ensuring a purpose-driven approach. #MITSloan #Entrepreneurship #Strategy #Startups #Innovation #BusinessDiversification #1toGO
