Thanks to 558 brave prostate cancer patients from Vestfold county, Dr. Erik Skaaheim Haug (Sykehuset i Vestfold) and Dr. Karolina Cyll (Oslo University Hospital) have completed a study funded by Helse Sør-Øst. Their findings, which leverage data from these men's cancer journeys, have just been published in the prestigious British Journal of Cancer. This achievement underscores the power of patient participation in advancing medical knowledge and improving cancer care. A heartfelt thank you to all involved! #ProstateCancerResearch Oslo universitetssykehus Sykehuset i Vestfold HF Prostatakreftforeningen https://lnkd.in/damicxTU

🔬 Microwave Ablation vs. Radiofrequency Ablation in Liver Cancer: 2021 Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis 🔬 Significant systematic review and meta-analysis provided valuable insights into the comparison between Microwave Ablation (MWA) and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for treating liver cancer. Key Results: ▷No significant difference in overall local tumor progression (LTP) between MWA and RFA. ▷Subgroup Analysis: MWA showed a statistically significant reduction in LTP for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. ▷No differences in complete ablation, intrahepatic distant recurrence, complications, or tumor size. 🔍 Conclusion: MWA demonstrated promising results, especially in reducing LTP for HCC patients, indicating its potential as the preferred ablation method for these patients. 📚 Authors: Antonios E Spiliotis, Gereon Gäbelein, Sebastian Holländer, Philipp-Robert Scherber, Matthias Glanemann, Prof Bijendra Patel https://lnkd.in/gpAcFvtR #LiverCancer #MicrowaveAblation #MedicalResearch #CME #PhysicianInsights #Oncology #CancerTreatment

Clarity’s abstract titled “Treatment of metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer patient with two cycles of 67Cu-SAR-bisPSMA (8GBq) leads to undetectable PSA level: A case report” was selected and presented this week at the 34th Annual International Prostate Cancer Update (IPCU) in Vail, Colorado during the video abstract portion of Session 7: Advanced Prostate Cancer. In the video abstract, Dr Luke Nordquist MD FACP shared his experience treating the first patient ever with two cycles of 8GBq of 67Cu-SAR-bisPSMA. After receiving the two doses, the patient had a drop in PSA to undetectable levels, undetectable disease using PET and a near complete response to treatment according to RECIST assessment at the time of imaging. The patient experienced only a mild dry mouth, altered taste (both improved) and moderate fatigue (resolved). Watch the video abstract below to learn more about this patient case report. For more information about the SECuRE trial, visit ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04868604). The safety and efficacy of the products outlined in this presentation are investigational and the respective data have not been assessed by any health authorities.

Our recent book chapter, titled "Functionalized Liposomes and Niosomes for Cancer Therapy," has been published by #Elsevier. I co-authored this chapter with my esteemed colleagues Maryam Yavari, Negar Nasri, and Dr. Atefeh Zarepour under the supervision of Prof. Ali Zarrabi and Dr. Ebrahim Mostafavi, PhD. This chapter, which is Chapter 16 of the book "Functionalized Nanomaterials for Cancer Research," delves into the fascinating world of lipid-based nanocarriers and their potential in cancer therapy. Liposomes and niosomes are lipid-based nanocarriers that have attracted significant attention due to their unique structural features resembling cellular membranes. Our book chapter aims to provide an in-depth exploration of functionalized liposomal and niosomal therapeutic nanoparticles for cancer treatment. We begin by discussing the distinct structural features of liposomes and niosomes, along with their diverse preparation methods. Furthermore, we delve into different generations of liposomes and niosomes, shedding light on the various types of functionalization that can greatly impact their stability, loading capacity, and bioavailability within targeted cancer tissues. If you're interested in learning more about the cutting-edge developments in liposomal and niosomal therapies for cancer, this book chapter is definitely a must-read!
