Any free continuing education offer with Jennifer Gonzalez, let me be the one to tell you if you don't know already -- Clear your schedules! Don't miss it :) When I was getting my credential, it was Jennifer who first helped me understand the critical transition between learning to read and reading to learn. As I began teaching, I discovered there is a parallel discernment we as #EduCreators (love that word, genius Christel Guillen!!) make daily between thinking to write and writing to think: there are editing ("thinking to write") moments, and there are creative moments ("writing to think"). In all classrooms, there is room to support both at differentiated levels for all students--we just have to keep equipping ourselves and pushing education further, higher, and wider. I hope this is a packed house -- excited for this!!!

This was the question asked by leaders of the Garrett High School Career Development Program in Garrett, IN. Can other skilled trades programs and students benefit from this model? The job fair is 1 week away, sign up today! This is not your ordinary job fair! • We will provide and set up your table and chairs. • We will provide coffee, water & lunch. • Please bring a tablecloth, any table decorations/marketing materials, and applications. • Wi-fi will be available, but please bring your own electronics and extension cords. About the culture at Better Together job fairs: • Culture of Celebration - We will celebrate every person and every opportunity which they find at the job fair. Make a big deal out of interviews, job offers, and other meaningful interactions. We also want to celebrate them and the employers! • Opportunity Bell - One of the most obvious ways we celebrate. If you extend an on-the-spot job offer, please come up to the bell with your new employee to ring it together so we can all stop, clap, cheer, and celebrate with you. • Job Coaches - Volunteers will be working with and encouraging job seekers throughout the day. If you are looking for something specific or not having a lot of luck, flag down a coach so they can be on the lookout for exactly what you need. Their job is to make matches and get job seekers ready to meet you, so help them do their jobs better by interacting with them. • What is your one more step? - We love it when people receive information about open positions and how to apply - that’s fantastic. But, we would love to challenge you to take one more step than you have taken before at job fairs and try interviewing on the spot, conducting screening steps before they’ve left the building, inviting job seekers for appointments or interviews at specific set times at your facility, or even offering on the spot jobs. We will provide a private room for your on the spot interviews to be held. Message me today if you have any questions or would like additional information!

The LLT team recently engaged in the WEOC’s Fall Job Fair, a valuable event organized by the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) at the State University of New York (SUNY). This initiative offers a range of free academic and vocational training programs to individuals. At the fair, we interacted with a diverse group of bilingual students possessing varied training, work experience, and CDL B driver's licenses. Our team actively promoted both part-time and full-time opportunities, aiming to support students in their career pursuits. Many attendees expressed interest in discussing their chosen fields with us, seeking insights and guidance. We welcomed their inquiries, providing our expertise and assistance to aid in their career development journey. It was a fruitful experience connecting with motivated individuals at the event.
