𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀? ♻️ At the Circular Plastics Conference 2024, we will Reflect and Act on what's next in plastic recycling. We address the entire #valuechain from an international perspective and focus on the technological, logistic, and societal challenges lying ahead. The burning question remains: how to continue this road to circular plastics? What are the major challenges facing the Netherlands as it seeks to recycle at least half of plastic waste by 2030 and achieve 100% circularity by 2050, and how is the government working to overcome these challenges? On September 26th (for the 4th time), 150+ experts, pioneering thinkers, stakeholders and academics from the field of circular plastics will gather in Jaarbeurs MeetUp in Utrecht for the Circular Plastics Conference 2024 to formulate the next steps in closing the loop before 2050. 🌍 Spotlight Talk: Sustainable Production and Recycling of Plastics ♻️ Plastic production still heavily relies on virgin fossil resources, generating massive amounts of waste that end up in landfills, pollute oceans, or are incinerated. It’s clear that the linear "make, use, dispose" model is no longer viable. In contrast, the circular economy challenges us to rethink the entire lifecycle of materials: keeping them in use for as long as possible, maximizing their value, and regenerating them at the end of their life. In this event, we will explore the industrial challenges and innovative solutions that are bringing us closer to a circular economy and a sustainable supply chain. Speakers like Antonis Kokossis, A. Kuenkel (BASF), and D. Collias (formerly P&G) will share the latest advancements in processes and products, offering valuable insights into the future of plastic recycling. The session will close with a round-table discussion to exchange ideas and perspectives. 📅 Join us on November 5, 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET to learn how sustainable technologies and strategies are transforming plastic production and recycling! UPM Raflatac has revealed their most recent development, which is the innovative New Wave paper label material, which is compatible with recycling and is also the world’s first RecyClass certified paper label for rigid high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP). This new material was launched after the company ran tests on the material and these returned with results that confirmed that the material is compatible even with white and natural material streams. This is a huge breakthrough, as it is natural and white material streams which require the highest purity of recyclates from the recycling processes. It is this achievement with this label, which showcases the amazing step forwards that has been made by this company, when it comes to developments for the recycling of rigid plastic. This accomplishment will also follow the company’s aim to help brand owners continue to work towards enhanced circularity. The article below showcases a recent major breakthrough for the plastic free packaging industry, in which a new kind of recyclable label has been created. A lot of planning, effort and detail has gone into the creation of this product and so far the results have proven that this product is worth it.
