Day 46 of 100 Days of Games of Chance in Kenya. The CSR from Games of Chance gave rise to the Non Governmental Organisation Movement in Kenya. Today’s article is from July 25th 1967. It talks about how the general public has ‘hardened’ to charity/contributions because of being bombarded by requests for cash contributions in the streets, restaurants, bus stops, offices and public spaces of major towns in the country. The article celebrates the structure of the Kenya Charity Sweepstakes and how the Kenya Government had formed the Kenya National Council for Social Services, which required all charitable bodies to register to it and which ensured there was no duplication of charities. Kenya Charity Sweepstakes in offering lotteries for purposes of funding charities - in my opinion - created an entire industry that we now know as Non Governmental Organisations who are primarily charity/not for profit and are governed by Non Governmental Organisations ( NGO) Board of Kenya. https://lnkd.in/dvqd5e5m

If any of my LinkedIn friends ( remember strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet) have any associations with grassroots football clubs and want to raise some money for their club please get in touch. We have affiliate links for The National Grassroots Show at the NEC in July. These links are for ticket sales. Anyone that purchases tickets through the club link will earn £5 ‘per ticket’ sold for the club. The money raised will be given in credits to be spent on exhibitors at the National Grassroots Show. This will include, kit, equipment, coaching, health and wellbeing to name but a few. This is to ensure that the money is invested back into the club. The show will include tournaments, skills workshops, guest speakers in the form of Managers, Coaches, Players, Physios, Psychologists, Agents, Scouts, Presenters, Pundits (and the list goes on) from the world of football both Womens and Mens of all ages and abilities. The best bit???? Next years show will include more sports. Rugby, Hockey, Pickleball, Netball, Cricket…… The Grassroots Show wants to bring sports from all abilities and levels under one roof. Message for more details if you want to be involved ⚽️🏉🏑🏓🎾👟😃😃😃😃😃😃

The ASA's recent ruling on a prize draw competition highlights a crucial lesson for anyone running lotteries and/or raffles: game rules must be clear and fair. It is also generally advisable not to change the game rules once a promotion has started. ✍ Check out our blog article for the full details of the ASA's ruling and make sure that your charitable gaming programmes are compliant with the CAP Code: https://lnkd.in/e2kZKGwd

**LGYC’s 22nd Golf Classic** The 22nd Golf Classic hosted by LGYC is now in the books! This event brought together hundreds of participants to raise funds for campers in financial need. Over the years, champions invested in over 10,000 kids attending camp through these sponsorship dollars. **Why is this important?** Their struggle is our struggle. Young people today face numerous challenges: loneliness, excessive screen time, lack of face-to-face interaction, and uncertainty about their identity and purpose. Camp provides a crucial respite, offering a place where the love of God is both heard and felt. It helps kids like Demoni, who are not just campers but our neighbors, future employees, and the leaders of tomorrow. **Let’s invest together.** Join us in supporting the camper sponsorship fund: [https://lnkd.in/gbWmjnhP) Watch our video to learn more: [https://lnkd.in/gQqj8XQF)

Last Friday, the Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games Society announced that approximately $200,000 in legacy funds has been awarded to three initiatives that will benefit the community for years to come. 📰 https://lnkd.in/gawdeXBw Legacy funds come from the generosity of the business community in supporting the Games with cash and in-kind contributions, merchandise sales, and the sound financial management of the volunteers who led the Games. The funding is in addition to funds provided through the Powering Potential Fund, which supported a number of local projects before the Games, including the biathlon range at Hallis Lake and the slopestyle course at Troll Mountain.

Day 39 0f 100 Days of Games of Chance in Kenya. Does African Socialism- pulling together - lend itself to Lottery and CSR? Today’s article is from April 28th 1965, it is a summary of the address by Kenya’s 1st President to parliament and it features Gambling. It seeks measures to outlaw foreign lotteries and gambling pools and to nationalise and strictly control lotteries and gambling pools in the country to ensure capital remains within the country. There is an appreciation of lotteries as a way of raising money, especially for charity or development , invoking a very Kenyan norm known as ‘Harambee’ which is the spirit of coming together and contributing towards a bigger cause. https://lnkd.in/d4P4dC8m

Interesting debate. Not sure I buy the argument that making the OL companies pay community grants creates perverse incentives to increase gambling activity. If anything they’ll see it as a baked in cost of doing business here. And online gaming grants are really no different to lotto grants or pokie grants. It’s all driven by gambling activity even if people like to pretend otherwise. The advertising revenue, if allowed to any degree, will also be beneficial given the parlous state of the current nz media landscape. That’s a relevant counter to the argument of only allowing a handful of local operators to dominate. All of this dependent on having very safe and very stringent harm minimisation frameworks in place. Which today of course, without regulation, we don’t.
