The CSRD represents a significant expansion in both the scale and scope of non-financial reporting. It moves sustainability reporting from a voluntary activity to a mandatory one, pushing the sustainability agenda up the to-do lists of organisations yet to take action. The requirements of compliance and the associated risks of non-compliance are always great motivators. However, for some organisations we have engaged with, it is clear that there is still a disconnect between reporting and sustainability implementation and action. It's essential for organisations to begin to upskill their teams to understand the requirements of CSRD reporting. As companies prepare for the reporting required by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)—which will be phased in from 2024 to 2029—it’s worth noting that only eight EU countries have integrated the directive into their national laws. However, the EU-wide requirement to disclose comprehensive sustainability data across entire corporate value chains is already in place. Reflecting on the past year, I am proud to have achieved the certification for CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and Sustainability Reporting. This achievement has made me appreciate the broader value of reporting, which extends beyond compliance. Reporting encompasses benefits such as improved access to capital, attraction and retention of talent, brand differentiation, risk mitigation, operational efficiencies, and opportunities for innovation. Reporting brings abstract issues into tangible focus and enhances data comparability.   In February 2024, EU institutions provisionally agree to delay reporting standards for specific sectors and third country companies. However, this latest development does not change the timeline for the application of CSRD itself. Companies falling within the scope of CSRD reporting will still be required to comply with the deadlines specified in the CSRD.   The next milestone is July, 6, 2024, which serves as a deadline for member states to transpose the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). CSRD and ESRS will come into effect for the 2024 financial year, with the first reports due in 2025, applying to the initial cohort of large EU listed companies, public interest entities and groups, as well as large non-EU issuers and groups. #CSRD #sustainabilityreporting #LFCA
