#Kilos4Klima | Had the opportunity to attend the informal meeting between the Climate Change Commission and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Asia Climate Change Consortium regarding the Loss and Damage Fund Board. The convergence between these two sectors, the government and civil society organizations, is crucial for effective action on the Loss and Damage Fund Board. This partnership will enhance policy advocacy, ensures community voices influence decisions, and facilitates resource mobilization for vulnerable populations affected by climate change. On the other hand, challenges may arise from differing priorities, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and limited access to funding. Maintaining transparent communication and fostering mutual trust are essential for overcoming these obstacles and achieving shared goals in climate resilience and adaptation efforts. Collaboration is key to addressing the pressing issue of loss and damage. Photo: JL Algo.

Our Communications and Knowledge Management Advisor, Emilie Fokkelman, is attending the Climate Democracy Webinar hosted by the Open Government Partnership, Trust, Accountability and Inclusion Collaborative and People Powered. Participants are exploring ways of ensuring inclusive approaches that respect local knowledge and expertise, and how to navigate the complexities of local and global climate policies while ensuring that innovations make a real impact on the ground. This topic is very important for the Governance Action Hub, especially in countries like #Colombia where we are exploring the #JustTransition theme. #ClimateDemocracy #ClimateAction #JustEnergyTransition

“It’s time to turn rhetoric into action. It’s time to adapt.” These words from our Director-General Vanina Laurent-Ledru come on the eve of the 79th UN General Assembly, where, just one week from now, we will have the honour of convening experts on the subject of climate change. On Wednesday 25th September, we will come together with partners Foreign Policy and the Africa-Europe Foundation at our event ‘Risk to Resilience: Unlocking Climate Financing for Local Health Adaptation’. As a group of international academics, scientists, policymakers, agenda setters and community advocates, we have a common goal: to address barriers hindering the flow of climate and health financing to local communities and propose actionable solutions to ensure that funding reaches those most in need. These conversations have never been more important. #UNGA79 #TimeToAdapt #ClimateChange
