The old age discussion again! I have read many reports and it seems that workers 55-64 are having the toughest time finding new or reemployment...that could be after a layoff, reorganization or leadership changes that lead to just good old being let go stating they are no longer a fit! Well, many of your older workers come with accomplishments, experience and have gone thru more changes than their younger counterparts, yet are still finding it hard to get that offer! Read the article below, it provides some more details on the 'age' discussion.

Attract and retain, attract and retain. I have heard it, said it, written it and read it. Yet, are we listening to the teams we have the high honor of leading? Do we express gratitude for their investment and ideas? Are we moving employees in the direction of their interests and natural abilities? The relationship between employer and employee is a sacred thing. How can we build teams we are proud of and want to be a part of? "...when employers were asked why their people had quit, they cited compensation, work–life balance, and poor physical and emotional health. These issues did matter to employees—just not as much as employers thought they did. By contrast, the top three factors employees cited as reasons for quitting were that they didn’t feel valued by their organizations or their managers or because they didn’t feel a sense of belonging at work." 9.8.2021 McKinsey & Company Quarterly

It’s not just about the money. Today’s workforce, especially Gen Z, craves more than just a paycheck. They want to feel valued, appreciated, and connected. They need to know that they’re part of something bigger than themselves, something with real purpose. Over the last five years, I’ve observed this shift firsthand. It’s not that salary doesn’t matter—of course it does—but it’s not the only motivator. When employees don’t feel seen, when they don’t feel their contributions matter, they start looking elsewhere. And that’s a wake-up call for companies. If organizations want to retain top talent, it’s time to start investing in more than financial rewards. Build strong connections. Show your people that they belong, that they’re appreciated. Because high salaries won’t keep them around if they feel invisible. It’s not the money that makes people stay—it’s the meaningful relationships and the sense of belonging that count. #EmployeeEngagement #GenZ #CompanyCulture #RetentionStrategies #HumanConnection #TalentRetention #EmployeeWellbeing #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipMatters #TeamBuilding #EmployeeSatisfaction #PeopleFirst #WorkplaceInclusion #EngagedWorkforce #MillennialsAtWork #RetentionStrategy #EmpowerEmployees #PositiveWorkplace #MeaningfulWork #PurposeDriven #WorkplaceMotivation #CultureOfCare #WorkplaceTransformation #ValueYourEmployees #ConnectedWorkplace #GenZWorkforce #EmployeeMotivation #InclusiveCulture #BuildingTrust #WorkplaceInnovation #BetterTogether #TeamEngagement #PurposeAtWork #HappyEmployees

It's Not Just About the Money Anymore... . . . Not all employees leave because of a low salary—especially not the GenZ. They're looking for something deeper: appreciation, value, and connection. 🤝 Over the past five years, working closely with GenZ has taught me a vital lesson: Their drive isn't fueled merely by the paycheck. It's about feeling seen, valued, and part of something bigger, something meaningful. 🌱 High salaries aren't sufficient anymore. In today’s world, the human connection stands paramount. Companies must adapt to this reality to truly retain their best talents. 🚀 Do you think companies are doing enough to foster these connections? Let's discuss! 💬 #EmployeeRetention #Culture #GenZ #CorporateLife #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceCulture #HRDescribed #ValueYourEmployees #JobSatisfaction #ModernWorkplace

Half of U.S. workers are planning to leave their employers this year (LinkedIn 2024). Companies face the risk of losing their top talent unless they act swiftly to prioritize retention. Providing clear career pathways is a crucial retention strategy. However, the task is more complex than it appears due to changing roles and skill requirements in today's evolving work landscape. Fresia Jackson, lead researcher at Culture Amp, highlights the importance of aligning employee aspirations with organizational needs. She emphasizes the key elements of an effective career pathway program, including job clarity, goal setting, feedback mechanisms, and continuous learning opportunities. To succeed, involve employees in program design while focusing on fundamental aspects like role clarity and performance management. Prioritizing these basics can enhance retention and organizational growth. #hr #business #workforceplanning #careerdevelopment #employeeexperience #employeeengagement #leadership #talentmanagement
