St. Patrick's Day is coming up, and it's time I said it loud and clear: I'm lucky to be part of the Key Title team.
A few years back, amidst the chaos of COVID, our Agency President took a gamble on a real estate attorney craving a change. Back then, uncertainty loomed over many of us in the real estate world, prompting some serious career soul-searching.
Even after taking a step back from private practice, I had questions. Should I dive into underwriting? Embrace life on the road as a marketer? Settle into an office chair to tackle title issues? Some combination of everything?
Fast forward to today, and my primary focus is client relationships.
We sometimes call ourselves Marketers or Market Managers, but it's really a combination of sales, marketing, and business development. You've got to be able to be client-facing, understand the multiple parties involved in real estate transactions and how their roles intersect, provide the highest level of service not only individually but as a team, be able to accept and integrate client feedback, and it really helps if, like me, you've come from the world of settlement and can assist in underwriting and adressing title insurance customer questions.
As a former closing attorney, it's a role perfectly suited to my background, energy, and interests. My boss and I are in sync – this is where I thrive. This is what I'm supposed to be doing with my skills.
Each morning, I wake up feeling lucky to be doing the job I love alongside of team of like-minded individuals. I can't emphasize enough how much I value them.
Follow your heart. Find a company where you thrive. It's never too late to chase down your perfect career.
