📢 Time to Set the Dragons Den Story Straight! If you haven't caught our pitch yet, dive into the shorter version – a snappy 6 minutes that barely scratches the surface. Trust us, the full 20-minute episode on the show is where the magic truly unfolds! You can catch this on BBC iPlayer. The Dragons kept us on our toes for 2 hours in the den, and although the version was amazing, we would like to add a few vital points that were edited out. 1. OUR BRAND NAME - ''Stand Out Socks'' - Although it was made to look like Peter had a problem with our brand name, this was spoken about in a conversation about retail and how our products would stand out on a supermarket shelf. We will forever be STAND OUT!!! We won't be changing. 2. WE ARE A BUSINESS - We don't receive any funding or accept donations, we rely on our customers believing in our amazing staff, products, and mission. Steven Bartlett got this concept immediately and made an offer within the first 15 minutes after the pitch. Subsequently, Deborah Meaden removed herself from the negotiations citing we had the dragon we wanted/needed. It was refreshing that all the dragons treated us as a Business Investment... Thank you!! *** Since we launched 2 years ago our socks have helped raise well over £10,000 for charities and played a vital part in creating funds to help launch the Leicester Tigers Down Syndrome rugby team. 3. OUR PRODUCTS - A large segment of textile tycoon Touker Suleyman praising the quality of the socks was not used. With his 50 years of experience in the field, it was amazing to get this feedback. Just a few points that we wanted to get out there!! A special mention to Sara Davies MBE.... she truly is everything you see on TV, an amazing human being and an outstanding businesswoman. Follow our story - Stand Out Socks ✌️🧡🧦 #standoutsocks #dragonsden #borntostandout #downsyndromeawareness #disabilityinclusion

We are excited to announce Walk the Mile: Because HERstory Counts, an upcoming YWCA Carlisle and Cumberland County event dedicated to raising awareness and support for survivors of violence. This one-mile walk is more than just a moment; it’s a movement to amplify the voices of survivors and create meaningful change in our communities. We believe that every story matters, and HERstory deserves to be heard, respected, and acknowledged. By participating in this event, you’ll be walking in solidarity with survivors, advocating for systemic change, and helping to shift the conversation toward healing and justice. Why should you join? - Show Support: Stand with survivors and demonstrate that their experiences matter. - Raise Awareness: Help educate others on the pervasive issue of gender-based violence and the importance of supporting survivors. - Be an Ally: Whether you’re walking as a survivor, an advocate, or an ally, your presence will send a powerful message that no one walks alone. This event is an opportunity for professionals, community leaders, and organizations to come together and take a visible stand. Join us, network with fellow advocates, and help us create a future where survivors are heard and supported. Together, let’s walk the mile for change, justice, and the recognition that HERstory truly counts. #WalkTheMile #HerstoryCounts #YWCACCC #SupportSurvivors #EndViolence #CommunityAction #Solidarity

What can the medical and dental community do to correct this issue? Your thoughts? After the violent holiday weekend, Chicago civic leaders announce $100 million for crime-fighting efforts| In a show of political and private force after a horrifically violent extended holiday weekend in Chicago, civic leaders joined Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson and state legislative leaders to announce progress in their commitment to funding community-level violence prevention programs. [Chicago Tribune] The Chicago business community has raised $100 million to support on-the-ground programs, which typically take the form of nonpolice interventions in communities at risk of violence, in a first-of-its-kind effort from the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago. In addition, $175 million in state funding for those programs has begun to be distributed, Pritzker said. The gathering of CEOs, philanthropic leaders, police and violence interrupters came after more than 100 people were shot in Chicago over the extended Fourth of July weekend. Nineteen people died, including an 8-year-old and two family members in a mass shooting in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing community. Thirteen speakers lined up inside a downtown office building to praise the funding effort, but many acknowledged it’s not enough and that more needs to be done. ℹ️ STATEMENT FROM MUSLIMS IN RAIL ON GROWING THREATS OF FAR-RIGHT EXTREMIST VIOLENCE ACROSS THE UK ℹ️ 📰 read full statement here - https://lnkd.in/e4AycJRx "Muslims in Rail joins other civic organizations in raising alarm about the current wave of far-right extremist violence and civic disorder in the UK, targeting law enforcement, places of worship, and the public. This campaign, driven by misinformation and Islamophobic propaganda, aims to terrorise and harm Muslims. The perpetrators should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for their criminal actions, including rioting, vandalism, looting and violent hate crimes disguised as public protests. Broadcasters, political representatives, and social media platforms must take responsibility to stop spreading malicious misinformation." "We urge all members of the public, passengers or staff who may appear Muslim (or from a Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority background) to exercise safety and caution when travelling during this weekend." • SAFETY FIRST – Check before your travel. Avoid travelling through hate ‘protest’ sites or alone. Call 999 if threatened. • REPORT ISLAMOPHOBIA - https://lnkd.in/ecFj4NJE • MOSQUE SAFETY ADVICE- https://lnkd.in/eXxbvfcX Most importantly, we urge our Rail and Transport partners to support the Police in ensuring safety for everyone, including staff and passengers. Increased visibility, patrols, awareness of emergency protocols, and open communication with community groups are crucial. The heightened threat to vulnerable minority groups, especially Muslims, must be taken seriously. Verbal and physical attacks, particularly against women and the elderly, are a real concern. We oppose all discrimination, hate speech, and violence towards anyone based on their protected characteristics. Let's unite to celebrate diversity and encourage dialogue. Promoting peace among different faiths is crucial for strong, inclusive communities. We urge everyone to engage in constructive conversations and reject actions that promote division or intolerance. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of all those affected following the tragic loss of innocent lives in Southport. Please support the bereaved families via donating to this appeal - https://lnkd.in/eC8b9Hpe

We are sharing this resource that has been developed by NACCOM in partnership with Hope not hate, Asylum Matters, Right to Remain, Praxis and IMIX. The guide pulls together some basic principles/ considerations for organisations and community groups to guide their thinking when making decisions about how to keep staff, volunteers and the people they are working with feeling safe and supported. It also offers our solidarity with the people who are most affected by far-right violence as we stand together as one community. This is not an exhaustive guide, and it will be updated as best practice continues to be developed. It is hosted on Hope not Hate's website at https://lnkd.in/egKC98Vq (you have to register to request access). NACCOM are happy to have feedback on what can be included/updated/added, etc. Hope it's useful as a sense check for you all in these difficult times.
