June is Youth Month in South Africa—a time to honor the potential and resilience of youth leaders. Reflecting on the youth of 1976 and their fight for just education, we are reminded of the transformative power of youth activism. May we continue to nurture and empower the youth to lead with vision and courage. #IntegralRebirth #YouthMonth2024

Today, on Youth Day, we remember and honour the brave youth of June 16, 1976, who stood united against oppression and fought for a better future. Their sacrifice was not in vain, and it is our responsibility to carry their legacy forward. As the youth of today, we have the power to shape the future and create a world where equality, unity, and opportunity prevail. It’s essential that we support and empower each other, working together to build the future we want to see. How We Can Empower Each Other: 1. Support and Collaboration: Let’s lift each other up and collaborate on projects and initiatives that drive positive change. 2. Education and Skills Development: Share knowledge and skills to help each other grow and succeed. 3. Advocacy and Activism: Stand together to advocate for the issues that matter to us, from social justice to environmental sustainability. 4. Mentorship and Guidance: Offer guidance and mentorship to fellow youth, helping them navigate their paths and achieve their goals. 5. Unity and Solidarity: Remember that we are stronger together. Let’s break down barriers and build a united front. The youth of 1976 fought for a future where we could stand united and empowered. Let’s honour their legacy by working together to create a brighter, more inclusive future for all. #YouthDay #EmpowerEachOther #Unity #LegacyOf1976 #YouthEmpowerment #TogetherWeCan

🌍 Westbury Rising: Promoting Change Through Youth Empowerment & Environmental Justice 🌍 In a world still grappling with systemic inequality, the community of Westbury, South Africa, stands at a crossroads. Nearly 30 years after apartheid, the challenges of racial identity, unemployment, and urban violence persist—fueling deeper issues of social and environmental justice. As part of my ongoing research and community work, the Westbury Rising Project aims to address these concerns head-on by equipping young people with skills to become leaders in their community. By tackling the legacy of systemic racism and fostering sustainable solutions, we are striving for real change in Westbury. Explore how the Westbury Youth Centre, in collaboration with local partners, is transforming lives and reclaiming the future for marginalised youth. 🔗 Read the full story by Blair Marcus Proctor, Ph.D. and learn more about this critical project: https://lnkd.in/d7MFRJmM #YouthEmpowerment #SocialJustice #CommunityDevelopment #EnvironmentalJustice #WestburyRising #Fulbright

This #InternationalDayoftheGirl, we’re celebrating the inspiring voices of young girls across Australia who are envisioning a future filled with hope, action, and possibility. Through the 2024 #RaiseOurVoiceinParliament campaign, girls across the country answered the question: “What do you want your community to look like in the next 10 years, and what can the next parliament do to achieve it?” From building flood-proof bridges to creating welcoming, diverse communities for refugees, to expanding safe spaces for kids and adults to learn together—these girls aren’t just dreaming about the future, they’re mapping the way forward. Their vision calls for action from us all, with messages of kindness, sustainability, inclusivity, and progress. As we reflect on this year’s theme - ‘Girls’ Vision for the Future’ - it’s clear that the future these girls see is one where everyone belongs, where no one is left behind, and where communities are strengthened by empathy and collaboration. We’re proud to amplify these voices and call on our leaders to listen closely. Let’s work together to make these visions a reality! #RaiseOurVoiceAustralia #ROVA #GirlsVisionForTheFuture #Leadingtoday #shapingtomorrow #AmplifyYouthVoices #GirlsLeadership

Today, we join the International community to commemorate the #InternationalDayoftheGirlChild. Through our programs, we have empowered and continue to empower both girls and boys with the skill, tools and platforms to thrive. We are proud to engage all of them from different backgrounds including marginalized, street and ensuring no one is left behind. "Girls already have a vision of a world where they can thrive. We must provide girls with a seat at the table, through education, and by giving them the resources they need and opportunities to participate and lead." - António Guterres Let's give girls the chance to live out their dreams. #EndChildMarriage #GECCI: Towards a Greener Future; United in Action 🌳 #geccinitiative #EmpowerGirls #climateaction

A vignette is a short story drawing from situations that reflect a local context or express the typical characteristics of something or someone. The Five Million Girls project, a testament to our commitment, is not just about education; it's about culturally relevant stories and narratives integrated into a project to engage and inspire girls. Like a compass, these stories challenge existing norms and provide alternative perspectives that encourage critical thinking. They empower girls to imagine a different future where societal expectations do not limit them. The project's mentoring component, a lifeline, is critical to empowering girls. Girls, like seeds, are matched with female role models from various sectors who provide guidance, support, and real-life examples of success. Like nurturing soil, these mentors reinforce the narratives in the literature and foster a supportive community for the girls, helping them navigate the challenges they face and realize their full potential. International Day of Non-Violence 💚 International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It was established on 15 June 2007 according to United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271. The day is an occasion to disseminate the message of non-violence through education and public awareness and reaffirm the desire for a culture of peace, tolerance and understanding. 🕊️🌍 Today, on International Day of Non-Violence, we want to emphasize the importance of our new project, "Building Social Bonds." 🕊️🌍 🌟 This day, inspired by the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, reminds us of the power of dialogue and tolerance in preventing conflicts and violence. 🌟 Our project, supported by values such as freedom, tolerance, and respect for human rights, addresses contemporary challenges like the weakening of social ties and the rise of intercultural tensions. In response to these challenges, "Building Social Bonds" will focus on adapting proven methods of working with youth, originally developed in Ireland, to the needs and contexts of European youth. 📚💬 💪 Through our actions, professionals working with young people will gain new skills and tools that will enable them to more effectively foster social engagement and integration. The project promotes building intercultural bridges and active citizenship, laying the foundation for a more unified yet diverse European society. 🌐🤝 Today, we particularly emphasize the importance of promoting dialogue and understanding among young people to combat racism, intolerance, and inequality. Our activities align with horizontal and sectoral goals, such as improving the quality of education and promoting civic engagement. 🎓✨ On this important day, we invite everyone to reflect on how each of us can contribute to building a society free from violence and full of respect for diversity. Together, we can create a future where everyone feels safe and respected. 🕊️❤️ Energia dla Europy #FEDE 🇵🇱 FERI Fundacja Edukacji, Rozwoju i Innowacji 🇵🇱 @AUTPOST @NGO Pozitivo Skopje #InternationalDayOfNonViolence #BuildingSocialBonds #Dialogue #Tolerance #Education
