How do we account for an EOT? Not really a tax question I know but one I've been asked quite a lot recently. Here's an extract from our recent EO podcast 👇🏼 Typically, TrustCo is dormant with no assets or liabilities. The discretionary trust will have an investment offset normally by debt (owed to the vendors or possibly a bank). 📝 The TradeCo will have no debt (deferred consideration due from the trust to the vendors is not debt of the TradeCo). Hopefully that clears things up, despite the convoluted circular ownership structure we often see in EOT transactions. Here's the links to the full podcast, if you haven't already, I thoroughly recommend giving it a listen. Campbell McDonald and Neil Palmer are two of the most experienced advisors on Employee Ownership in their respective fields and it was enlightening to hear them talking about the benefits of #EO and how businesses can really embrace the benefits of EO: YouTube - https://lnkd.in/e-f-iaGG Spotify - https://lnkd.in/e5Sxp73M #EOT #Accounting #TechnicalTuesday
