ISE 2025 will be the perfect place to assess the evolution of convergence between broadcast and Pro-AV technology, a trend that has become increasingly important in recent years. A portion of Hall 4 at the show is dedicated to broadcast technology. This has been rebranded to “AV Broadcast” from “Content Production & Distribution” this year, which may signal an effort to blend broadcast technology within the AV landscape further (more on this below). Tracking this part of the exhibition over time is a good indicator of convergence progress, and particularly of which broadcast technology is finding its place in AV (and how). Some observations on the floor map changes I have noticed between 2024 and 2025 (not a perfect analysis, but still providing some valuable insights): 📍Some broadcast tech suppliers (e.g., Ross Video) have transitioned to Hall 4 this year. This could reflect a move to further centralize solutions coming from broadcast. It certainly helps navigation for buyers (and for analysts)! 🔍 Some suppliers like Blackmagic Design seem to have expanded their floor space this year. Though most seem to have kept a similar booth space as in 2024 even if the overall show is growing (see this for more info: https://lnkd.in/dvhcpf84). 🔍 There are some new suppliers exhibiting this year (e.g., Grass Valley). And there are also a few vendors that have vanished from the map in 2025. 🎥 Sectors that are particularly represented in the hall still include content acquisition and production, content infrastructure, audio and streaming. There are, of course, exceptions to this but you would classify most vendors in at least one of these segments (and not many changes here). My main takeaway from these observations is that convergence is still a trend in flux, with companies still experimenting with strategies to engage the AV market effectively. It’s been an incredible experience collaborating with Maurice Snell to carve out insights on this cutting-edge project shaping the future of live broadcasting and remote production. Here’s what’s exciting: the potential to fundamentally change how niche sports are covered. Think about those events that rarely get the spotlight—regional snooker tournaments, e-sports matches, netball games, handball. Events that fans love but broadcasters struggle to justify covering (you might get a low quality feed, if you're lucky...). This accelerator is testing solutions that could change the game: → Create more affordable live production workflows → Improve access to live coverage for under-served sports/events → Enable broadcasters to deliver more to fans and viewers—without traveling the globe & shipping huge containers of equipment It’s not just about technological innovation—it’s about opening doors for every sport to find its audience.

Next Broadcast! . . IBC - International Broadcasting Convention 2024 once again proved to be an exciting platform for exchange and inspiration in a rapidly evolving industry. The topic "Next Broadcast" can be interpreted in many ways by me. Where is the journey headed? Will the changing user consumption habits push the industry toward overdue innovations? 👉How long will traditional TV broadcasters rely on high-end solid-state hardware? 👉Will film and advertising productions continue to depend on high-end technology, or are smarter alternatives on the rise? 👉The question of whether SMPTE 2110 will be replaced by NDI also remains intriguing. 👉Can we finally make virtual production accessible to a broader user? 👉Is a 100% cloud-based solution the future, or is intelligent cloud orchestration enough to integrate on-premise systems while maintaining cost-efficiency and agility? Many questions remain unanswered – but one thing is clear: it’s 11:30; there’s still plenty of time to shape the digital transformation.
