⚠️ Pharmacological Basis: • If we administer #Erythropoietin ➡️ we give #Iron with it. 𝗪𝗵𝘆⁉️ If we give Erythropoitin and Iron together, the production of blood cells won't occur and Erythropoitin will increase platelets. Iron is an essential functional component of erythrocyte hemoglobin, therefore the production of erythrocytes requires the timely delivery of iron to erythroid precursors. The process of erythropoiesis is by far the largest consumer of iron in the body, with red cells containing two-thirds of the total body iron. • If we administer any #Bisphosphonates drug ➡️ we give #Calcium and #Vitamin_D with it. 𝗪𝗵𝘆⁉️ Bisphosphonate drugs function to transfer calcium from the blood to the bones, so it's natural for blood calcium levels to decrease and vitamin D facilitates the absorption of calcium. • If we administer #Creon (pancrelipase) ➡️ we give #PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) with it. Our clients published an article in Nature!   The bitter taste receptor TAS2R14 plays a pivotal role in identifying a wide range of bitter substances, from dietary components to pharmaceutical agents, and is also widely expressed in extra-gustatory tissues, exhibiting additional functions in diverse physiological processes and potential therapeutic applications. 💥 💥 💥   🧐 This article presented the cryo-electron microscopy structures of TAS2R14 complexed with aristolochic acid, flufenamic acid, and Compound 28.1. Notably, a cholesterol molecule was observed occupying the orthosteric site typically found in class A GPCRs, and these three potent agonists bound individually to intracellular pockets, suggesting a unique activation mechanism for this receptor. Concomitant use of omeprazole and clopidogrel was found to decrease the clopidogrel's active metabolite by 50% and to sharply increase platelet reactivity, as a result of inhibition by omeprazole of CYP2C19, a cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme. Currently, the manufacturer of Plavix recommends using pantoprazole (Protonix), lansoprazole (Prevacid), or Dexilant (dexlansoprazole). Here is another for our cannabinoid series! 🍪When the cannabinoid Delta-9-THC is consumed via edibles, it is converted to 11-Hydroxytetrahydrocannabinol (also known as 11-hydroxy-THC and 11-OH-THC), through first pass metabolism of the liver. 11-OH-THC is the main active metabolite of Delta-9-THC and research shows it's approximately 5 to 10 times more potent than its precursor, as well as longer lasting. Therefore, it may be particularly effective for people suffering from chronic pain. 🫁The delayed onset due to liver metabolism challenges precise dosing compared to smoking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of R-Alpha Lipoic acid (R-ALA) in critically ill COVID-19 patients. A trial was conducted wherein 17 patients were randomly allocated to receive either ALA in addition to standard care or standard care alone (with saline infusion as a placebo) for a duration of 7 days. Patients' health and safety were monitored for a period of 30 days. Despite both groups starting with similar health scores, those administered with ALA exhibited less deterioration and showed a tendency towards lower 30-day mortality (37.5% vs. 77.8% in the placebo group). Further research involving larger cohorts is warranted to validate the potential benefits of ALA for COVID-19 patients.
