Often times when speaking to others about what it takes to establish a start-up, there's this assumption that because Cowo & Crèche is #womanowned #veteranowned and #minorityowned that there must be some steady flow of grants/free money/government funding coming in. Spolier alert* I have received not one penny, dime, or otherwise from any entity outside of what the good Lord has blessed me and my husband with. That said, I know first hand the financial struggles and challenges that come with building something that can have a social impact on our community. That is why I've decided to open up a sponsorship opportunity for businesses and individuals alike to give back to entrepreneurs, momprenuers and small businesses that can use a boost in getting started. Especially those that are veterans and transitioning back into civilian life. Cowo & Crèche is dedicated to being a space that is for the people by people who've walked the walk themselves. Please join us in considering a sponsorship of either someone you know or allowing us to pair you with a start up that can benefit from your commitment to #bettertogether in business! And if you can't be a sponsor at this time- please share with your network. This small gesture of sharing is how we can achieve the #change we want to see. #alexandriava #northernvirginia #dcmetro #entrepreneurship #smallbusiness #philanthropy #changeleadership
Empower transitioning military personnel, veterans, and spouses by championing Cowo & Crèche on LinkedIn. Join us in revolutionizing Alexandria's workspace, offering an inclusive solution for professionals, with a special focus on supporting those transitioning into civilian life. Your sponsorship not only positions your brand as a leader in flexible work environments but also plays a vital role in fostering a connected and vibrant community for our military community in the city. The phrase "thank you for your service" is a common expression in the United States, used to acknowledge and honor military veterans for their dedication and sacrifices. Its origins can be traced back to the post-Vietnam War era when the nation sought ways to express gratitude and recognize the contributions of service members. During the Vietnam War, many veterans returned to a country divided by the conflict, often facing indifference or hostility rather than appreciation. As the cultural and political climate evolved, there was a growing awareness of the need to honor and support those who had served in the military. The establishment of Veterans Day as a national holiday in 1954 and the construction of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982 marked significant steps toward this recognition. The phrase "thank you for your service" gained prominence in the 1990s and early 2000s, particularly after the events of September 11, 2001, which reignited a sense of respect for the armed forces. It became a way for civilians to express their appreciation directly to veterans and active-duty military personnel. As a tool for gratefulness and validation, "thank you for your service" serves multiple important purposes. Firstly, it provides a simple yet powerful way to convey respect and acknowledgment. This acknowledgment can be profoundly meaningful for service members, offering a sense of appreciation that contrasts with the isolation and challenges they might face during and after their service. Secondly, it fosters a sense of national unity and collective responsibility. By expressing gratitude, individuals can contribute to a culture that values and supports its military personnel, reinforcing the importance of their role in protecting and upholding the nation's values and security. Lastly, the phrase can serve as a catalyst for broader conversations about veterans' needs and the sacrifices they make. It encourages the public to be more aware of and engaged with the issues affecting veterans, from mental health to employment, thus promoting a more supportive and inclusive society. "Thank you for your service" has evolved into a vital expression of gratitude and respect in the United States. It not only honors the individuals who serve but also strengthens the nation's collective recognition of their essential contributions, fostering a culture of appreciation and support. Other nations would do well to adopt similar practices, ensuring that their service members receive the recognition and respect they so highly deserve. #thankyouforyourservice #veterans #recognition #validation

Happy Veteran Days to all those who have served in our US Military! I wanted to take a moment today, to imagine what a world would look like without a US Military. Would we have a United States? The military played a vital role in shaping the development of modern-day America. From protecting our nation's interests to fostering scientific and technological advancements, the military has been at the forefront of progress. The Military has a rich history it has evolved into a formidable force, serving as a cornerstone of American security. Through countless conflicts, the military has displayed unwavering courage, resolve, and innovation. Scientific and Technological Advancements: It has been instrumental in driving major scientific and technological advancements that have transformed the world. An example is the Global Positioning System (GPS), initially developed for military use. Today, GPS technology permeates our daily lives, revolutionizing navigation, transportation, and even weather forecasting. The military's involvement in computers and the internet cannot be overstated. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency played a pivotal role in the birth of the internet, providing the groundwork for the digital age we now enjoy. This military-driven innovation paved the way for limitless possibilities, connecting people across the globe and powering industries worldwide. All the businesses that have been built over the lifetime of our military, numerous businesses owe their existence to military veterans. Veterans possess a unique set of skills, discipline, and adaptability gained through their time in service. These attributes have spurred entrepreneurial ventures, leading to the creation of successful companies. Brenda Warren who helps businesses go from desire to reality, Anthony Manca, a provider of Information Technology products and services, Bethanie Pitsky, who celebrates and highlights women veterans, Liseth Velez, a construction management firm that prioritizes collaborations. Monifa Caines, artisan who empowers individuals to be their authentic selves. Lee Goldberg, who helps veteran businesses grow, Charles “Lynn” Lowder, who helps veterans buy businesses, we also know our families serve too, Stephanie Brown the founder of The Rosie Network, and so many more. We also want to recognize all the organizations that were established to support our military and veterans, like Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), DAV (Disabled American Veterans), The American Legion, US Coalition of State Veteran Chambers of Commerce, Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce, and so much more. All the veterans who made a difference, who made the sacrifice, who are 1% of the US that signed the blank check to America, so that we could be the land of the Free.. It looks like, I cannot imagine a world without our military. Thank you to all who served and all those who support those who serve! https://lnkd.in/eKpw7qkv

"Home of the free, because of the brave." Today we honor and respect our military members, and recognize the sacrifices they have made to forge paths of freedom at home and abroad. Over 60% of veterans have a tough time transitioning from military to civilian life at the end of their service, with more than 80% of unemployed veterans having an even tougher experience. What are some tips you could give struggling veterans to help them break into a competitive job market? What advice would you give to help them translate their military experience to employers? Leave your insight in the comments, and tag someone you know who served to see if it would have helped them when they needed it 🇺🇸

Veterans Day, a federal holiday in the United States observed on November 11th each year. It is a day dedicated to honoring and expressing gratitude to all military veterans, both living and deceased, who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Veterans Day has its roots in the end of World War I and is observed on November 11th to commemorate the armistice, or ceasefire, that went into effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, effectively ending World War I. Here are some key reasons why Veterans Day is celebrated: 1. Honoring Veterans: Veterans Day serves as a way to recognize and show appreciation for the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. It acknowledges their sacrifices and the contributions they've made to protect the nation and its freedoms. 2. Commemorating the End of World War I: The original impetus for the holiday was the end of World War I, a conflict that had a profound impact on the world. By celebrating on November 11th, the holiday pays tribute to the armistice that marked the end of "the war to end all wars." 3. Remembering Those Who Served: Veterans Day is an occasion to remember not only those who served in World War I but also veterans from subsequent conflicts, including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the ongoing War on Terror. 4. Educational and Patriotic Purposes: Veterans Day provides an opportunity for schools and communities to educate the younger generations about the importance of military service and the history of conflicts in which the U.S. has been involved. It also encourages a sense of patriotism. 5. Ceremonies and Parades: Many communities hold ceremonies, parades, and other events on Veterans Day to honor veterans. These gatherings offer a chance for people to come together and pay their respects. It's important to note that Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday in May and is dedicated to remembering and honoring those who died while serving in the military. Veterans Day, on the other hand, celebrates all military veterans, whether living or deceased. #interworldcleaning #honorourveterans #ansimpact

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🙏🏽 Remember, honoring veterans is not limited to one day a year. Continuous support and acknowledgment of their contributions can have a lasting impact on the lives of those who have served and their families. Here are some ways in which you can honor veterans: 1. Express Your Gratitude: A simple "thank you for your service" can mean a lot to a veteran. Take a moment to express your appreciation for their sacrifice. 2.
