Dear Job Seekers/Candidates, I understand that your work hours are busy, and you often reach out to HR during your free time or after work. However, those after-hours are also personal time for HR professionals, and we all value our time with family and friends. We’re all striving for balance, and contacting each other late in the evening or at night isn’t ideal. It would be similar to receiving a job inquiry at 5 AM or 11 PM. Let’s try to respect each other’s time. #hr #corporatelife #thoughts #worklifebalance

Folk seeking casual employment have priorities and a life outside of work too, and they deserve the respect and flexibility from employers that are expected of them. I will never understand employers that are advertising casual 10-15 hour per week roles, yet expect the candidate to have full 7 day flexibility and availability. It says so much about the employer! For one that they don’t value the lives of their employees or their wellbeing, have little to no respect of their employees time unless it’s making them money, and that they are unlikely to show empathy throughout the employment life cycle. Employers often seem to forget that they are also being interviewed during the job seeking process.

Six months. 182 days. 4.368 hours. ⏳ 💭 It's been six months of building #relationships. Working as an HR professional I strongly believe that the best results come with a strong, trust-based relationship with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Thanks for all the open and welcoming arms. 💪 It's been six months of #curiousity. I have probably asked as many questions as never before in my professional career. Trying to absorb everything like a sponge. All of the questions have been patiently answered. Thanks for all the open ears. 👂 It's been six months of driving HR service #excellence. Even though there are a lot more challenges to face (exciting times ahead 💪) we are continuously strengthening the HR portfolio and services towards the organization. Thanks for all the hands and brains jointly making this happen. 👐🧠 It's been very work-intensive, but more importantly very happy and rewarding months. The best days of Munters are yet to come. #munters #employerofchoice #diversity #team #reflection

Hiring & HR Admin Partner👩🏽💻 | Founder & Chief Hiring Nerd of Career Pursuit | ✨Empowering female biz owners & leaders to hire and manage teams based on aligned values and cultural fit✨
What do you mean I can’t say that? Yeah, that’s right, you can’t say anything you want in an interview. Remember that candidate experience we were just talking about? That extends to considering Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) in your recruitment strategy as well. Let me walk you through a scenario: A Full Time role is advertised with hours from 8am - 4.30pm Mon to Fri with requirements for evening or weekend overtime. Two applicants call to enquire about the role. One female and one male and both with career breaks of 2 years. ✨ What assumptions might you make about their career breaks? ✨ Would you ask both candidates if they were able to work the extra hours required? ✨ Would you worry about whether they both could start at 8am each day or just one of them? These questions can give you a little insight into your own unconscious biases. Protected under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 are to not discriminate based on age, gender, family status, ethnicity, disability or other personal characteristics. Because of that, even if you’re curious it would not be okay to ask a candidate things like: 💣 Do you have young kids? 💣 Are you married and who drops the kids to school? 💣 Did you have a career break for your family? Not only is it going to turn off your potential candidates, it’s also illegal. So let’s plan a recruitment strategy together that allows you to address your concerns with questions that are fair regardless of candidate background: ✨ Are you able to work occasional overtime and weekends? ✨ Are there any concerns about a commencement at 8am each day? ✨ What was the reason for your career break and how will it make you more prepared for this role? Let’s turn your pitfalls into wins! Give me a call on the hiring hotline to chat further! Ash ✨ #recruitment #hiringpartner #recruitmentpartner

🛩️ Question of the Week: HR Edition! 🛩️ 💭 Can we ask applicants if they have a car? 💭 Answer: It depends on the job! 🚗 If the role requires a personal vehicle—say, you’re hiring a courier and don’t provide a company car—then yes, asking about car access is fair game. But if you’re just concerned about punctuality, it’s better to ask if they have reliable transportation, and stress the importance of being on time. ⏰ ⚠️ Asking about an applicant’s personal assets (like a car, house, or even an airplane!) can be risky and could lead to issues with equal employment regulations if not handled carefully. So, unless a vehicle is essential for the job, skip that question! Need more HR insights? We’ve got you covered!
