What do you think about #ReverseJobPosting? 🤔 Kyle Simpson is a very prominent JavaScript developer and author who I follow on LinkedIn. He made a very interesting post yesterday where he flipped the script and wrote a job description for his ideal position. I thought it was brilliant. 💡 Here are a few reasons: 🔵 If you are in between jobs, there is no reason why you should conceal that you are looking for work. Go after it and find ways to make yourself known. Make a LinkedIn post like Kyle did and even put a summary of what you are looking for in your profile Summary. 🔵 Typically the first question I ask a candidate on a call is "how would you describe your ideal position?" Good recruiters genuinely want to know what you are looking for in your next role. If you can tell us in writing, it will help us to determine if there is a potential fit before ever reaching out to you. 🔵 I also think that writing out a job description like this could really help to provide a lot of clarity for you if you are unsure of what you are looking for. What are your thoughts? Are there any downsides to this that I'm not thinking of? Obviously this isn't a strategy for someone who is happily employed, but if you are aggressively looking for your next position, give this a shot. I appreciate your feedback! https://lnkd.in/gYGPZBKs #jobs #jobsearch #softwarejobs #remotework #remotejobs

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁? 🤔 Creating effective job postings is important for attracting high-quality candidates. Here are some tips to craft job postings that stand out and attract the right talent: ✅ 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Use a clear Job Title that accurately reflects the position. 𝗘𝗴. If you’re hiring a Software Developer (with Java Tech Stack), Use “Java Developer” as a title for your posting rather than putting “Software Developer”. ✅ 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Summarize your job description in 4-5 lines that highlight the key responsibilities with “Must-Haves”. 𝗘𝗴. Seeking a skilled and experienced (6+ years) Java Developer for our banking client in Houston, TX. Join a dynamic team and leverage expertise in cutting-edge technologies like Spring, Hibernate, Java EE, and Microservices. Contribute to the future of financial technology with a dynamic team, exploring cloud-based solutions and Big Data technologies. Apply Now! ✅ 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Clearly explain the application process, including any specific instructions for submitting resumes, portfolios, or other relevant information (if required) and also provide your contact information for inquiries. 𝗘𝗴. If interested, please forward your resume to harmeet@vaco.com with your portfolio or Git-Hub details (If any). ✅ 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗮𝗴𝘀: Adding relevant hashtags can increase the visibility of your job post. LinkedIn best practice suggests that 3 to 5 hashtags are plenty. But if you use too many, your post will look spammy. 𝗘𝗴. Javadeveloper, Fintechopportunity, Developerjobs, HoustonTech ✅ 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲: Adding an attractive and relevant image in your job posting on LinkedIn can significantly enhance its visibility and engagement. Enterprise/Solutions Architect | IT Engineering Leader/Manager | Delivery Manager | Process Improvement | Full Stack Software Developer | Lifetime Learner & Teacher | Former PwC
Rule #2 of picking a "good" psychic: If you are considering hiring a Medium that has 20 years of experience... don't. Just... don't. This person is clearly not competent at their job. "Medium" is an entry level title. You wouldn't hire a Jr. Software Developer with 20 years of experience. That would be silly. Someone that started as a Medium 20 years ago should at least be a Large, possibly an Extra-Large at that point in their career. Follow me for other important tips about hiring contractors/vendor management!
