We are delighted with the announcement of the appointment of Lord Peter Hendy as the new Transport Minister. Lord Hendy’s extensive experience not only in rail but across the transport sector is a promising sign that Labour’s transport manifesto is not just a vision but a plan in action. Here at ICRF, we have always championed the independence and growth of the rail freight sector and we look forward to Labour's policy of keeping the rail freight industry in the private sector become a reality. Lord Hendy’s appointment aligns perfectly with our goal and the sector's mission to drive innovation and efficiency within our industry and to deliver upon the vision of the Bradshaw address to increase rail freight by 75% by 2050. His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for policies that support our sector’s expansion. #RailFreight #ExpressFreight #ParcelsAsPassengers

📣 MPs urge Government to back Ely and Haughley rail upgrades Improvements to Ely and Haughley rail junctions are key to unlocking economic growth across the country, supporting net zero, and providing better passenger services. That’s the message from MPs and peers on the East of England All-Party Parliamentary Group, which reformed last week following the General Election. The upgrades would unlock thousands of extra freight trains from Britain’s busiest container port at Felixstowe to serve distribution centres in the Midlands, North and Scotland, while increasing the frequency of passenger services at places such as Peterborough, Ipswich and King’s Lynn. In partnership with England's Economic Heartland an updated report on the benefits of Ely and Haughley has been released. It showcases the unprecedented support for the schemes from across the country, including cross-party MPs, freight and logistics sector, businesses and local and combined authorities. Transport is back on the agenda in the #KingsSpeech today. Our response👇 🛤️The Rail Reform Bill will finally pave the way for the much-needed reforms to the railways that passengers and the country needs. Establishing Great British Railways - something we campaigned for– will be the first step. 🚆On public ownership on the railways, we need to see how the Government intends to deliver this new model and that passengers are placed front and centre to ensure its success. 🚌The Better Buses Bill will allow local authorities to choose how best to deliver bus services and give them greater control of routes, fares and standards where needed. We are also calling for minimum service levels and long-term, ringfenced funding for all local authorities. 🗺️ We support more devolution of transport powers to regional mayors, but to successfully deliver sustainable transport networks that work, regions also need long-term funding settlements and a commitment to put sustainable transport at the heart of local transport plans.

DB Cargo UK welcomes the appointments of Louise Haigh MP and Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill as Secretary of State for Transport and Minister of State for Rail. Now more than ever, we need to push rail freight up the agenda for transport decarbonisation and work together to close the cost gap between rail and road. We look forward working with the Government's new Transport Team to deliver the change our sector needs to harness private sector growth and investment for the UK’s railway. We all know that 'Freight Belongs on Rail', now we need the right changes in policy to make it happen and make sure that freight stays on rail. The rail freight industry's recently-launched, Delivered by Rail Freight manifesto, clearly sets out where change is needed the most to secure growth. #RailFreight // The ARA wants to see more freight on rail – as much as 30 per cent – and has made a submission to the Victorian Freight Policy Reform Program on behalf of the rail freight industry. It is critical reforms focus on removing unnecessary barriers hampering rail freight productivity, efficiency and reliability. We have also recommended that Freight Victoria be given greater powers to oversee the implementation of the new state freight policy. Increasing the mode share of rail freight will be key to easing road congestion and unlocking significant safety and environmental benefits. 📄 Read the submission: https://lnkd.in/erDXCPjn 📣 Read the media release: https://lnkd.in/ejXmFD4B

Very encouraging to read this. Our new government has already committed to the IRP and funding GBR but the industry really needs to allocate funding more rapidly for CP7 so development work can accelerate, take control and reduce ticket prices to really start the decarbonisation process. Like many of you, I woke up last Friday morning to the news that my local MP had been caught up in the great wave of change that swept our country at the general election. As it happens my new MP is an ex-Network Rail colleague. Congratulations Olly Glover MP. We start a new week with a new government, a new team at the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and hundreds of new MPs across the nations and regions of the UK. I have contacted the new Transport Secretary Louise Haigh MP , congratulating her on her appointment and offering our support to her and her team to implement their plans for rail as set out in the Labour Party’s Getting Britain Moving plan published in April. I have been hugely encouraged by the discussions I have had with Louise as Shadow Transport Secretary over the past year. She is passionately committed to public transport and to putting passengers and freight customers first. And she shares our understanding not only of what is wrong with today’s railway, but also what can be made right – not least by bringing track and train back together under a new Great British Railways. And of course I am chuffed to bits that the Prime Minister has appointed our chair, Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill, as Minister of State for Railways in the DfT. In my opinion, Peter is the outstanding transport professional of his generation and I have been hugely privileged to work alongside him during my time at Network Rail. Our loss is very much the country’s gain and I know he will be a relentless champion for passengers and freight users, for the railway, and for rail’s contribution to economic growth, jobs and homes. So I am optimistic that the coming weeks and months hold enormous opportunity for us and for the railway. Equally, I am conscious that to fully seize that opportunity we must hold the public’s trust – and we are only ever as good as our customers’ last journey. Too often that hasn’t been good enough so it’s essential we maintain a relentless focus on improving train service performance, safely. We will doubtless hear more from the new government about its detailed plans for rail over the weeks ahead. As we approach next year’s 200th anniversary of the railway, I look forward to working with new Ministers and industry partners as the railway adapts again to the needs of its users and the nation in the years ahead. Rail freight from #Felixstowe may not be the defining issue of the forthcoming #UKGeneralElection. However, the broader question of rail freight development is on the agenda of all the major political parties. With less than a month until the #UK goes to the polls, the level of traffic in the east of #England could be a bellwether for rail freight policy. #railfreight #railfreightnews #railcargonews

Research focused on cargo throughput in urban & regional environments. "Feeder Logistics"
3moCargo-parcel "Feeder" trains & trams can contribute fixed revenues to the rail system, reducing the time to breakeven, along huge positive multiplier effects, for communities, regions, & the Nation. The "Feeder" concept takes advantage of "line-balancing" strategies not available in any other logistics design. There is excess capacity in global rail systems, a part of sunk cost & opportunity cost. Required: Standardized (ISO) "Feeder RO-RO" carts with (IoT/AI) options, including non-motorized "reefer" carts, for ease of handling, linking all vehicles & transfer-balance points, 24/7.
