We just returned from Black Hat, one of the premier cybersecurity conferences in the world. 🕵🏽 From an event marketing perspective, we were impressed by the engaging and educational strategies employed by many of the exhibiting brands. Their booth designs were impressive, creating an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere (and noisy!) throughout the hall. Some notable highlights included: - Numerous in-booth presentations delivered by both professional speakers and company representatives - Additional booth staff to greet visitors, capture leads, and facilitate introductions to the right experts - An abundance of gamification, including both digital interactions and old-school activities - Comfortable hospitality areas within the booths, providing a space for coffee and casual conversations - The return of multi-level "double decker" booth designs Our takeaway was that overall, the brands at Black Hat put their best foot forward to create immersive, memorable experiences for attendees. Even the smaller booths made an effort to stand out with clever use of space and interactive experiences to draw attendees in. Well done exhibiting superstars! ✨ For more information about how to create memorable experiences for event participants, please check out our latest blog 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫-𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡: https://lnkd.in/gF__A8ue #EventMarketing #ExperientialMarketing #BlackHat2024 #Cybersecurity

In response to some PMs and media calls today about the London Drugs cyber incident , the timing of my earlier post today was purely coincidental. My position: this is a matter of "when", not "if". And if as careful a company as LD can have this happen, any one can. Its the world we are in. That said, the Exec discussion below has been in the works for some time. I identified this as one of the very highest priority strategic issues in retail today. There is reluctance to talk about it and there has been a tendency to push this into the Tech and compliance areas of the business. Yet there are so many critical strategic threads to explore together as retailers embrace investment in more complex supply chains and advances in customer engagement (including AI). These threads can include... 1. Does your leadership have a clear, shared view of risk and risk tolerance (it won't be eliminated). 2. Are new internal cross silo'd relationships forming with IT as a strategic contributor to risk discussions other than compliance? 3. Do you have scenarios scoped and a playbook for each type of incident? 4. How do you act prudently in face of constraints (time, budget, people)? 5. How can CEOs better support their CISOs?
On May 22nd, from 10 AM to 2 PM, we are hosting a lunch time discussion in Toronto, focusing on the "Strategic Implications of Cyber Threats in Canadian Retail." A notable highlight of the gathering will be a fireside discussion between Nitin Bedi, an esteemed executive advisor on cybersecurity, and an accomplished Chief Technology Officer of a major retail chain. Together, they will delve into business-centric topics such as the risk implications of retail transformation efforts, leadership and risk management, and the evolving strategic relationship between technology and the business landscape. I want to emphasize that this event is not centered around technology and is most certainly not a sales pitch. Rather, it offers a unique opportunity for peer networking and executive education tailored specifically for C-suite executives within the Canadian retail sector. We are striving to maintain an intimate atmosphere conducive to optimal sharing and discussion, hence we are limiting attendance. Please let me know by DM if you or one of your team is interested in learning more. ISA Cybersecurity Thales
