Do you Listen with your ears, hear with your heart ? Let me tell you a short story: Two friends walking in the forest: one chatters endlessly while the other listens intently. Suddenly, the listener stops and says, "Do you hear that?" The chatterbox, puzzled, replies, "Hear what?" "Exactly," the listener smiles, "Sometimes silence speaks volumes." Just like in art, where the space between strokes is as important as the strokes themselves, true listening embraces the silence between words, allowing deeper understanding and meaningful connections to flourish. Remember: To be a writer, you need to be a reader first. To be a speaker, you need to be a Listener first.

They're old hat 4. Eschew ampersands & abbreviations, etc. 5. One should never generalize 6. Comparisons are as bad as clichés 7. Be more or less specific 8. No sentence fragments 9. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement 10. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (almost) unnecessary 11. And always be sure to start a pharma promo ad with the brands WHY - the purpose why my brand exists.

“Is Rachel a real person?” Oh damn, she is. I got this question at a workshop when I said, "I write for one: My Rachel." She’s a lawyer based in the US.  She’s my ideal client.  She’s my biggest hype lady. And here’s the key: ➡️ When I write, I write for her. Not for an audience, just for Rachel. When you try to speak to everyone, you connect with no one. Writing to one person creates: - A sense of intimacy - Readers feel spoken to  - Are likely to take action So how do you do it? 1. Know your ideal client inside and out: - What excites them?  - What do they care about? - Their struggles, goals, and dreams. 2. Write to your biggest fan: - Use a simple conversational tone.  - No jargon, no corporate talk. - Just real, relatable language. So go on and find your Rachel. Because mine’s busy hyping me up.  P.S. It's funny how it only takes one letter to change the meaning of a word. Or how a language barrier can have you asking for an adult film instead of bathroom tissue. In my role as an editor, I aim to bring clarity and accuracy to my clients' content, bridging the gap between their intentions and their writing. So, every letter in every word matters. Jane and Lola are best friends. They went to the same places, read the same books, and had the same interests. You could describe them as inseparable. One day, Lola offended Jane, which hardly ever happens. But, Jane was terribly upset. Lola assumed that a simple apology would repair their relationship and things would be as they used to. However, Jane refused the apology and the misunderstanding went on for longer than they both anticipated. When asked, Jane said, "Lola apologised, but she didn't look or sound like she meant it." ____ Communication is 20% words and 80% body language, including your voice tone, facial expressions and gestures. This is why you may sometimes have a problem with 'how' something was said and not 'what' was actually said. Someone asked me the other day what it was about words that I love. For me, what it boils down to is the power to create a new world. Words get you inside someone else’s head, from there you can conjure images, emotions and experiences. You can make someone laugh, you can make them cry. Yes films can do that, but guess what? That’s because of the words. The English language is complicated, there’s no getting away from that, but the advantage of that is that there’s a fluidity and flexibility. There are ten different ways of saying something but the individual words help to create a different feel to the sentence. Words give me the opportunity to be creative, to play around with the sound of something and to build a relationship with the reader, even if they aren’t aware of it. That’s why I love words.
