SUPPORT OUR NEW CAMPAIGN Interior Design Declares are supporting the Naturewatch Foundation’s ‘Paint with Kindness, Not Cruelty’ campaign The charity has identified that while bans on Household Products have been in place for nearly 10 years in the UK - there are many loopholes and animal testing still happens. Household products include cleaning products - but also paints, grouts, lacquers and adhesives. Please follow the three campaign actions: 1. Sign petition - the UK ‘banned’ testing household products on animals. But the ban is full of loopholes.... https://lnkd.in/egvtms9R 2. Use their letter template to contact your suppliers to help with the charity’s research for their campaign which will be gathered in their Compassionate Shopping Guide....https://lnkd.in/daaUDZPd If you are outside of the UK, use this template to find out more from suppliers in your country. 3. Use their Compassionate Shopping Guide once updated with this household products research..... https://lnkd.in/d5DSjfFj #Paintwithkindness #takeaction #interiordesign #joinus #support #climateemergency #interiordesigndeclares

Buggingham Palace or Log Pile Lodge? Whether you prefer to use natural material such as leaves, straw, bamboo, pine cones or dead wood, or whether you decide to upcycle old bricks, egg boxes, tin cans, broken ceramic pots or yogurt containers – the sky’s the limit when it comes to creating homes for nature’s tiny heroes! Whether you have two left hands or no proper garden - dump the excuses because this is so dead easy that everyone can get involved! Just search the internet for #bughotel and you will find plenty of images for inspiration and building instructions. If you can pile up small logs, larger sticks and stuff the gaps with twigs and dry leaves, you can build an insect residence. Read our Season’s Greetings 2024 about how we came up with this idea and why we ask for your help. You still have a few days left to help nature’s tiny heroes AND increase our annual donation: https://lnkd.in/dqmTR3UG We invite you to take a photo of your creative artwork and share it. For every image you upload on social media by December 20th, using the hashtag #DIYBugHotel and tagging GAIA Insights in your post, we will increase our contribution to selected charities because we care about People, Planet and Purpose. May our humble contribution nurture a better Tomorrow. Thank you for your help! #gaiainsights #leadershipdevelopment #people #planet #purpose #DYIBugHotel

A few things you won't see on my résumé: 1. My husband and I lost our home and almost everything we owned in the Marshall Fire in 2021, and we've spent the past several years becoming experts in things we never set out to master—like total loss home replacement actual costs, the necessity of hydro-seeding after debris removal, and the flammability of various exterior building material options. 2. I became a mother during our rebuild. Nothing in my experience has been richer than facing such catastrophic loss followed by receiving the gift of such awe-inspiring life. 3. I've been busy gardening. First, I apprenticed at a local flower farm, learning all that I could about drip lines, beneficial insects, and weed management. Then I planted a container garden on the shady porch of our temporary housing, and, to my surprise and with so much attentive care, it flourished. 4. We're home at last, and this summer was my first opportunity to put down roots. This year's garden was a giving garden: I vowed to share all that I possibly could. Even after I'd handed a bouquet to every loved one I could think of, the garden's abundance continued to overwhelm me. The more I took, the more it gave. And so I found another way to give. 👩🌾 Send proof of donation to your or my local food bank (and your mailing address) to caitlin@hawksley.org, and I'll send you a packet of seeds collected from my garden. Each one of us has a gift. No matter the circumstances, and no matter how small, these gifts have a ripple effect on the world around us. How will you share your gift? https://lnkd.in/gD_WZXPw

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟳 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟭𝟮 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴... When it’s time to part with Christmas decorations, disposing of them properly makes all the difference! ✨ Decorations like tinsel and baubles cannot be recycled due to their mixed materials, such as plastic and glitter. If they’re in good condition, donate them to a local charity shop or sell them online through platforms like Facebook Marketplace to give them a second life. 🌿 Natural decorations, like wreaths and centrepieces, can go into your garden waste bin or home compost - but remove any bows, ribbons, or non-organic elements first. Save these extras for future use instead of throwing them away. For more tips on how to recycle responsibly following the festive season, visit https://lnkd.in/efS-WJHP #JBRecycling #SustainableLiving #Christmas #Recycle #WasteManagement

🐶 IKEA’s campaign for its new range of pet furniture features rescue animals, including a three-year-old lurcher 'Margaret' found injured and abandoned in a field in #Cambridge. The Swedish #homeware store – best known for its flatpack furniture and glossy catalogues – is now catering to furry family members, with a “cat-alogue” and “dog-alogue”. A £5 cat box, which fits on a bookside alongside hardback classics, and £2 patterned bone-shaped soft toys are among the retailer’s new Utsådd collection. Partnering with pet #charity Woodgreen Pets Charity, #Ikea ’s new “pet furniture” collection ranges from £1 for a cat-themed hook to a £99 wicker dog bed, complete with roof. It comes at a time when dire #financial circumstances are increasingly driving #households to abandon their #pets, with Woodgreen reporting a 253 per cent year-on-year #increase in this reason being cited in 2022-23. Ikea says the development of all 29 products was based on the #expert knowledge of #vets, pet product experts, and a “demanding panel of cats and dogs themselves”.
