Another architectural masterpiece by SAOTA Architects, designed to redefine elegance and functionality in contemporary living! The client, with a keen eye for contemporary design, requested a house that could be flexible—capable of being rented out partially or in entirety without compromising on style or comfort. The result is a home with strong, clean lines and a layout that ensures every space enjoys spectacular views, whether it’s the sea or the mountain. Set to make the most of the site's unique dimensions and spectacular scenery, this double-storey house integrates seamlessly with its environment, offering panoramic views of Lion's Head and the Twelve Apostles. The design cleverly balances privacy with open, airy spaces. Strategic use of frameless glazing and sandblasted surfaces ensures natural light while maintaining privacy. Living areas extend into outdoor terraces, making the most of the property's orientation and views. The house is designed with versatility in mind—equally suitable for private living or as a rental property. Key features include: Bedrooms with westward-facing views for spectacular sunsets. → A ground floor with a self-contained staff suite and two bedrooms. → A dramatic, view-enhancing staircase in the main circulation area. Innovative structural elements include a steel-supported roof that extends over the deck, adding a modern touch and enhancing the sense of space.

Featuring clean architectural lines, extensive interior millwork and a generous deck overlooking the Beverly Hills terrain, 1675 Carla Ridge is another one of our proud achievements with Montalba Architects. Check out the Wallpaper* story below for the latest projects photos and more insight into how we overcame project challenges. #structuralengineering #structural #architect #architecture #realestate #development #construction #design
Montalba Architects gave the exclusive first look at our recently completed Carla Ridge House to Wallpaper*. Architectural Editor Ellie Stathaki sat with David Montalba to discuss the modernist nods, contemporary lines and historic restraints that influence the design of the home. David is quoted saying,"The neighborhood itself is highly regulated when it comes to design with no structure allowed over 14 feet and many restraints to setbacks and site conditions. We wanted to maintain expansions of space on the site while creating variations in the transitions between rooms. We introduced a series of internal and external garden courtyards that infuse the home with natural light and a unique landscape element corresponding to the adjacent program." https://lnkd.in/dAbabjgE DESIGN INFO The resultant design embodies the essence of a tropical haven, featuring: Bedrooms, each exquisitely en-suite. A spacious living room and dining area exuding warmth and comfort. An enticing outdoor swimming pool area adorned with a charming pergola. State-of-the-art and expansive kitchens catering to both practicality and elegance. MATERIALS Given the climatic considerations, the roofing material chosen is either short or long-span aluminum roofing sheets, offering resilience against the region’s frequent and intense rainfall. The walls, a fusion of regular Sand Crete blocks, are meticulously finished with paintings, wood wall paints, and marble wall paints on plastered walls, embodying both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity. The flooring, designed for enduring public usage, is adorned with vitrified floor tiles, ensuring a seamless blend of durability and aesthetics throughout the building. This collaborative effort stands as a testament to our commitment to marrying client preferences with architectural expertise, resulting in a residence that harmoniously integrates with its surroundings while meeting the highest standards of design and functionality. #residentialdesign #homedesign #nigerianarchitecture #buildings #buildingdesign #housing #Architecture #architecturalvisualization #architecturedesign #homedesign #nigerianeventplanners #eventplanners

Each building in this collage brings unique elements to the forefront, reflecting innovative design and thoughtful execution. Bold Color Combinations and Cantilevered Balconies: The first building stands out with its striking orange and white hues, complemented by cantilevered balconies and a sleek flat roof design. This combination creates a dynamic and eye-catching facade. Green Wall Accents and Geometric Windows: The second building features playful green wall accents and geometric windows, breaking away from conventional boxy structures. This design not only adds visual interest but also integrates nature into the urban environment. Layered Facades and Stone Cladding: The third structure showcases layered facades in shades of grey and white, enhanced by stone cladding and glass balustrades for the balconies. This blend of materials and textures adds depth and sophistication to the building. Traditional Influences with Modern Touches: The fourth home incorporates traditional elements, such as intricate railing work on the upper balcony and a classic roof design, seamlessly blending them with modern architectural features. Avant-Garde Curved Walls and Nautical Touches: The fifth edifice boasts an avant-garde appeal with its curved walls, bold blue accents, and porthole windows, giving it a unique nautical touch. This design pushes the boundaries of conventional residential architecture. Seamless Integration of Curves and Straight Lines: The final residence combines curves and straight lines effortlessly, featuring rounded balconies with glass handrails that contrast beautifully against its angular form. This harmonious blend creates a visually appealing and functional living space. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."Said Leonardo davinch I believe that architecture is not only for mega projects, but also for creating comfortable and functional spaces for everyday living. We spend most of our time at home, so it is important to have a home that reflects our personality, needs, and preferences. A home that is designed for our comfort and well-being. This residential building design features a compact and efficient floor plan, with open and bright living areas, cozy bedrooms, and a spacious terrace. The design also incorporates sustainable and low-cost materials, such as local stone, wood, and metal, to create a harmonious and durable structure. The exterior is painted in a warm and earthy color palette and with high light reflectance value.blending with the natural surroundings. The result is a simple and beautiful home that offers a high quality of life for its inhabitants. In Llinars del Vallés, Vallés Oriental, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, Alventosa Morell Arquitectes took a climatic approach to a home they designed. The single family residence, uses an array of methods to reduce the buildings energy needs. One of the largest contributors to the reduced energy load is the exterior walls of the home. Strategically placed windows and doors filter in natural light to the interior spaces, while also providing for cross ventilation throughout. An open interior floor plan, allows for easier movement of air throughout the interior spaces as well. The use of Castilian-sized solid manual ceramic brick adorns the interior walls and floors of the home, this allows for greater thermal regulation, as the brick has the ability to hold and diffuse heat throughout different times of the day and different seasons. The homes construction, allows for the home to be heated by a central fireplace and 4 spot radiators in the winter, and does not require any mechanical systems for cooling in the summer months. Beyond designing to reduce energy demands, designers worked with sustainable building materials wherever possible. This came in the form of sustainably sourced and certified wood for the roof and window frames, cellulose insulation in the walls and ceilings, and bio-mass bricks. The home will hopefully be a source of inspiration for designers when it comes to materiality choices, and how locally sourced and sustainable materials can greatly reduce the carbon footprint of structures. We’re all in this together #sustainability #sustainabledesign #sustainablearchitecture #architecture #architecturaldesign #design #build #builtenvironment #renewableenergy #renewablematerials #locallysourced

Raumplan House: A Singaporean Terrace House Filled with Light and Greenery • Designed by Formwerkz Architects, the Raumplan House in Singapore is an intermediate terrace house that incorporates the concept of connecting spaces, resulting in good airflow, abundant light, and views of landscaping. • Inspired by 19th-century Austrian architect Adolf Loos's Raumplan theory, the house features a central atrium with a skylight and an induced stack effect for ventilation, blurring the distinction between the garden and the house. • The house is filled with greenery, including a cluster of towering Sterculia foetida trees, a skinny trunked Tristaniopsis tree, and a Cratoxylum cochinchinense plant, creating a natural and inviting ambiance. • The house is designed to embrace nature, with the living room overlooking a double-volume dining area and a study room that overlooks the dining area, creating a sense of openness and connection. • The bedrooms are located upstairs for privacy, with the children's rooms connected to the master bedroom through a playful niche with porthole windows, allowing for communication and interaction between family members. • The house's materiality features board-form concrete on the facade, teak wood accents, and a layer of dark expanded metal mesh for filtering sunlight and unwanted views. • The Raumplan House exemplifies tropical living, with its abundant natural light, ventilation, and connection to nature, providing a comfortable and inviting living environment for the family. One of the most popular places for coffee and lunch on the bustling Abbeydale Road is the Amici & Bici café at the Chippinghouse Road crossroads. Our project for Amici and Bici was to expand the premises and create the strong presence on the street scene that this popular venue deserves. The key feature of our design is a new double-storey side extension, cleverly utilising the footprint of the existing extension. This innovative design theme transforms the front residential area into an additional bar and seating space, effectively enlarging the café's capacity with the new side extension. This arrangement disperses the café seating area across two floors, which not only creates additional space at busy times but also opens up new possibilities for private functions.
