Sustainable success for Furlong Flooring in housebuilder partnership Sustainable housebuilder Cora Homes has partnered with Furlong Flooring to fit its new homes with eco-friendly carpets. Furlong’s EcoSense Enchantment Elite and Luxe ranges will be used in Cora’s new homes, saving about 9,600 plastic bottles from landfill per home carpeted. ‘At Cora Homes, our goal as a housebuilder is to create amazing places. We strive for excellence, producing high-quality homes in a sustainable and environmentally-conscious way. The idea of having recycled carpets, saving plastic going into landfill, was a huge selling point for the flooring – it fits in perfectly with our ethos of sustainability,’ says Matt Wright, Cora Homes commercial director. ‘The flooring has been a hit. We have received some great feedback from customers on how good the carpets look – most are really surprised, and very happy, to hear they are recycled.’ https://lnkd.in/eJ5MTAQV #flooring #flooringindustry #sustainability #sustainableflooring

Recycling advocate, creating sustainable alternatives through development of new technology. Carpet Industry Expert, supporting circular economic strategy for new business development, and environmentally sound projects.
Carpet and flooring industry personnel, I need your help! I am trying to connect with professionals / individuals from the flooring sector. This in part will grow my network that will help me bring exciting news about Innovate Recycle but also, start to build a community that helps the carpet industry move towards: Increased recycling rates More accurate information and statistics. Needs and wants of the manufacturers and retailers. Environmental, Social and Governance guidance. Best practices (installing, waste collection, best products to purchase). Adhering to the waste hierarchy (reduce, reuse, and recycle) Support local community groups. As the UK attempts to move towards circularity & net zero, the carpet industry sees – bulky waste (like carpet) decreasing landfill space, the removal of the use of carpet waste in equine surfacing (RPS 248 withdrawal Jan 19th 2024), carpet waste being replaced by furniture containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP’s) in Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities and, huge increases to overall carpet / flooring disposal costs. All the above not in our industries favour and from an outsider’s point of view, having negative impacts on the carpet industry’s image. As an industry the need is to support this stage of transformation with rigor and speed to get one step ahead of pending UK/EU legislation that sets the groundwork for a compulsory and unfavourable “environmental tax” on the carpet industry. My ask, Will you help support this movement by joining my network, commenting on posts, and inviting others in your own network to do the same? This will allow more reach for news, updates, and information across the sector, as Innovate Recycle continues to transform the way the carpet / flooring sector transitions to a more circular industry. A huge thanks in advance. Warm Regards Joe Eccleston Founder – CEO Innovate Recycle www.innovaterecycle.co.uk #carpets #carpet #carpetdesign #esg #community #carpetrecycling #recycling
