Here are a few snaps from the Nuclear Energy Space & Defense Tech Investor Summit, hosted by Balerion Space Ventures, where Interlune CEO Rob Meyerson spoke last week.
It was an impressive event, bringing together founders and investors to discuss the rapid advancement in energy and space. It was also an opportunity to meet with old friends and make new ones. 🌕
And despite what it looks like, wearing a blue suit was not required for admission. 😉

What implications might this have for other countries? Is there potential for a new phase of competition in AI technology? Could it lead to a scenario where only a select group of nations – much like those involved in nuclear energy, space exploration, or advanced aerospace – hold exclusive access to these critical resources?

Best invest in Building Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry,
You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion.

The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you.
Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun.
Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission.

Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally.

Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method.
By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period.

Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world.

As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real,

#NuclearPower is not only playing an important role to save the plannet throught #GlobalDecarbonization, it´s also becoming a fundamental pillar for the conquest of space, either as a source of propulsion for interstellar travel or as energy sources for space bases...
In this context, more and more countries are working to fund research activities on those areas, the last one #UK, where its Space Agency is backing for Rolls-Royce and BWX Technologies, Inc. space reactor developement...
Nuclear energy is in a similar place to the space industry before SpaceX. Cost-plus has permeated every line item, creating massive price distortions, so that any first-principles cost estimate looks wrong by a few orders of magnitude.
You have no idea yet how cheap energy can get when we verticalize this at Valar Atomics!
Nuclear energy can not only help preserve the planet, it can also play a key factor in the discovery of new worlds...
US-based Howe Industries LLC has been developing a technology called #PulsedPlasmaRocket (#PPR), this system harnesses the power of #NuclearEnergy to generate thrust for #SpacecraftPropulsion potentiallyt reducing the #Mars mission time to merelly two months...

You might wonder, why not just use solar panels? 🌞 While they work great within the inner solar system, their efficiency drops after crossing the asteroid belt, making them less feasible for deep-space missions. 🚀 Instead, satellites use RTGs (Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators) – miniature nuclear power plants. 🔋 In this video, we'll dive into how they work! ⚡

Happy to be part of this exciting project published in PNAS Nexus, showing that preosteoblasts growing on curved surfaces change cell orientation from right-handed to left-handed while forming tissue-like 3D-cell layers. Thereby plywood-like structures are created. However, when interfering with mechanotransduction either by targeting the actin-myosin axis or by knocking-out nuclear A-type lamins the change in cell orientation does not occur (https://lnkd.in/dsgadEwU).
Interesting view on vc investments in the space sector.
”You really need to describe the space industry investment in existing business terms. There has been substantial private investment in small scale nuclear reactors, because energy is something the investors understand.” - Jay Kim
And if you want investments in a new space station you need to frame it as a real estate business. This allows the investors to categorize the investment.
The same goes for lunar construction, in-situ resource utilization and the space service sector.

Following revelations early this year that American spies believe Russia is planning to park a nuclear weapon at the upper edge of low Earth orbit, efforts to somehow counter the threat to satellites have picked up steam. In this article published today in The Economist, I write about one such potential approach: ambitious initiatives to engineer systems that could flush out of orbit the satellite-harming energetic particles produced by high-altitude nuclear detonations, not to mention solar storms. Hopes to design technologies for “radiation-belt remediation,” as this is known, are actually not as madcap as many might think:

This article comes on the heels of an earlier Economist piece I wrote that looks at other ways technologists hope to mitigate the havoc that a nuke in space could unleash:
