Free fruit platters will never fix unrealistic workloads or toxic workplaces! A recent article by Kate Pritchard discusses the worrying trend of 'wellbeing washing' where organisations offer superficial perks without addressing the root causes of employee stress. Many businesses are offering EAP (Employee Assistance Programs) but these tend to be a 'one size fits all' approach and in some cases, a "tick the box" exercise. They do not necessary align to an employees needs. For example, dealing with workplace conflict, divorce, tackling workloads or simply struggling with work-life balance. Many EAPs offer three counselling sessions per year per employee and do not necessarily support employees with what they are really tackling with.
