This condition, distinct from adult-onset glaucoma, underscores the importance of early detection and intervention. Congenital glaucoma is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), with potential consequences such as irreversible vision loss. It often manifests at birth or early childhood, impacting both eyes in about 65–80% of cases. Explore our blog to deepen your understanding of this rare eye condition and the significance of timely diagnosis. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dq3XPrNH #EyeHealth #RareDiseaseAwareness 🌐📚

~Getting "Back" on Track~ Adolescent years are tough on every kid, I'm pretty sure there have been a few books written on the subject (and maybe a Psychologist' career or two). I can say with near 100% certainty, no adolescent kid wants to be perceived as deformed, different or less than. Dealing with a spinal deformity can undoubtedly create that mental state. I know this feeling as I spent my early teenage years dealing with Scheuermann's Kyphosis (sometimes called disease) symptoms waiting for my growth plates to develop before an extensive spinal fusion at 15. Protocols were a little different in 2000 -2 1/2 weeks in ICU 🏥 -4 months in a hospital bed at home 🏡 -Years of retraining the body/rehab 🏋♀️ Big spine surgery is rough! Scoliosis gets most of the attention from the spine deformity community, although I can say first hand that Scheuermann's Kyphosis patients need some love, research and support too. With up to 8% of populations affected annually, there's a lot of us out there. Take a peek at what Doug Strott created for the tens of thousands of patients dealing with Scheuermann's Disease. Thank you Doug! 🙏 New Year, Better Focus; I'm going to do a better job at supporting this patient community and drive awareness. Scheuermanns Disease Fund #spinesurgery #spinehealth #pain #backpain

An echocardiogram, also known as an echo, is a scan of the heart, it is not the same as an electrocardiogram. We look at the structures of your heart, such as your heart valves. It also looks at how the blood flows through the main arteries and veins of the heart and gives information on how well your heart is pumping. It is often performed to diagnose and assess the following conditions: Heart attack, Heart failure, Heart valve problems, Congenital heart disease, Inherited heart conditions, Heart rhythm problems The Private GP Group is now in partnership with Apex Ultrasound to be able to offer our patients echocardiograms, and other ultrasound services, if necessary. #london #doctor #collaboration #heart #health #ultrasound #technology #cardiology #heartdisease #innovation

Media is buzzing about this medical breakthrough, partial heart transplant in 17 days old baby. Now he is one year old and doing great. A study led by Duke Health physicians, appearing online Jan. 2 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that the new manner of valve procurement used during the partial heart transplant led to two well-functioning valves and arteries that are growing in concert with the child as if they were native vessels.
