Reasons for aggression vary, but can include: ❌ Patients' anger and confusion ❌ Grief ❌ Frustration ❌ Mental health disorders Our webinar on January 23rd will address these issues. On the back of my earlier post; I have started a petition. Please read this and share far and wide. Change needs to happen and it needs to happen NOW!!!! If Health and safety legislation was conceived in relation to the adverse effects of work on physical health, why is there still inadequate protection against the adverse effects of work on mental health. Effective long-term change requires a coordinated campaign to push for legislative reform in order to make protection of mental health and suicide prevention in the workplace a legal requirement. https://lnkd.in/eYxnrwYx #suicide #management #leadership #construction #healthandsafety

Many businesses have established employee assistance programs (EAPs) to help their workforces deal with mental health, substance abuse and financial challenges. Whether your company is considering an EAP, or you already offer one, among the most important factors to keep in mind is compliance. For example, one of these programs may be subject to ERISA if it’s established or maintained to provide ERISA-listed benefits, including medical services. Generally, an EAP providing mental health counseling, including help with substance abuse, will be subject to ERISA. You’ll also need to assess potential compliance issues under HIPAA and the ACA. 2moThis is an amazing resource, thanks for putting it together! On the subject of training mandates, Oregon passed HB2575 mandating that departments “shall develop a model training program for groups and agencies that interact with persons who have experienced trauma.” I looked around and that training didn’t exist, so I developed a four hour training course that satisfies the bill’s requirements and provides some additional information. A more detailed description is available here: https://www.gaining-ground.co/service-page/increasing-trauma-informed-practices
