This year, with IAC2024, Milan is certainly the capital of space, but the city has always been the capital of design, with the famous “Salone del Mobile”, the world's largest design fair, with the 62nd edition scheduled in just a few days' time, from 16 to 21 April at the Fiera Milano Rho. The 'Salone del Mobile' 2024 will bring together a total of almost 1,900 exhibitors, including 600 young talents under 35 and 22 design schools. But we mustn't forget the equally famous “Fuori salone”, a must-attend event where exhibitions, installations, meetings and presentations of new products animate Milan's neighborhoods with numerous events, transforming them into true design districts. The Future of Space Tourism: The future of space travel is an exciting prospect that has captured the imagination of scientists, technologists, and space enthusiasts alike. It has long been the domain of government organizations such as NASA and other global space agencies, but with recent advancements in technology and the emergence of private companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin, space travel is gradually becoming a reality for ordinary civilians. Space tourism is set to become increasingly commonplace in the coming years, with private companies offering suborbital flights that take passengers on a brief journey into space. These flights promise to be a unique experience that only a select few individuals have ever been able to experience. Suborbital flights are the first step in making space travel accessible to the general public. These flights have the added benefit of accommodating those of us who are less adventurous as they do not require extensive training or training. Passengers will experience weightlessness and spectacular views of Earth for a few minutes before returning to Earth. But suborbital flight is just the beginning. Companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin also plan to offer orbital flights. The orbital flight takes passengers further into space and requires a more rigorous learning process. However, these flights offer the opportunity to see Earth from a much larger perspective and perhaps even visit the International Space Station. There is no doubt that space travel will be costly in the near future. But as technology improves and more private companies enter the space race, prices are likely to come down. The possibility of regular civilian space flights in the near future is becoming more and more a reality. Additionally, the practical applications of space travel remain far-reaching. It can be used to transport people and valuable resources to other planets, facilitate space exploration and experiments, and learn more about the universe and our place within it. The future of space travel is an exciting and rapidly evolving area with endless possibilities. It’s no longer just for astronauts and space enthusiasts. Soon, ordinary citizens will be able to realize their dreams of traveling beyond Earth and exploring the wonders of the universe. Imagine you are up before the sun to board the first marine spaceport for human spaceflight, Marine Spaceport Voyager (MS Voyager). Shortly after you enter Spaceship Neptune, which was designed to be not only accessible and sustainable but also safe. You gracefully launch from the ocean, traveling up a gentle speed of 12 mph, and witness a breathtaking sunrise. Your destination is apogee - or maybe the true destination is a shift in your perspective - and once you arrive above 99% of the Earth's atmosphere, you take it all in. You realize you are one of the few who have witnessed Earth from space, and the experience is not exactly what you thought. It is a gentle, peaceful journey enhanced with food and beverage service, comfortable seating and Wi-Fi. After two unforgettable hours soaking up an experience of a lifetime, you begin a gentle descent that ends with a soft splash in the ocean before being brought back onto MS Voyager to commemorate with a toast. You have secured your spot in history. Now this might not seem like a realistic scenario for many travelers, but the insatiable curiosity of explorers and scientists has brought space travel within reach. Space Perspective plans to take the experience to a whole new level. Travelers are looking for unique and transformative experiences. The hunger to go where no one has gone before and the demand for experiencing something extraordinary has exploded. Will this be the next craze, and if so, will you be boarding?

The below post is regarding entry to the International Astronautical Federation student competition for #IAC2024 managed for the UK by the British Interplanetary Society which for some unfathomable reason has a limit of who counts as a student at an arbitrary age of 28. So not exactly "CALLING ALL STUDENTS" is it! I can see that my challenge is having at least some effect as usually this issue is not directly acknowledged. This time we've got a disclaimer from the BIS that the "global entry requirements have been set by the IAF" which is one way of dealing with this problem I suppose. Although effectively saying it's not our fault doesn't really strike me as an effective response to discrimination. Age is a protected characteristic in line with the Equality Act 2010 I do wonder if that would also be the acceptable response to complaints of arbitrary exclusion of students in terms of race, sexuality, gender, etc... As the BIS clearly believe that it is outside their responsibility and the IAF refuse to engage at all I'll just say Happy BIS Groundhog Day 2024 folks! I look forward to absolutely nothing changing and having this same conversation next year.

Spain is of course geographically the gateway to the Americas, Caribbean and those of you reading the economist will note that despite other EU countries suffering economically, Spain is Booming with a GDP growth rate of 2.9% this year, thats more than three times the UK and France rate, and beats Germany (nil) and Austria (negative) hands down. Spain's aerospace industry is currently ranked 5th in Europe in terms of turnover and 8th in the world. Spain’s aerospace industry workforce has increased by 65% since 2000, and nearly all the increase is due to its activity in aviation and military aircraft programs. The Spanish space industry is involved in contracts in qualifications of flight and ground equipment, and the development and operation of satellite systems. There are several space centers located in Spain including the European Space Astronomy Center, European Space Agency the Madrid Deep Space Communication Complex (NASA), and Boeing’s European Center for Research and Technology.
