Empathy helps us to connect with one another, show care, understanding, and compassion. I also feel that when we look outside of ourselves it creates a more respectful environment. We become more aware of how the way we move through the world impacts others. We become aware that others may be struggling and need support and help rather than judgement and derision. Connecting with others has some positive side effects, it can decrease depression and anxiety, increase longevity, improve our immune systems and help us regulate our emotions, which in turn aids with increasing self-esteem. #mentalhealth #empathy #compassion

Do you want to connect? I mean, really connect with someone. This video is a great example of the power of human connection. Consider today as you cross paths with people, what their story is. What are they hoping and dreaming for? Achieving forward is not something we do alone. We can’t. We all need others to grow and improve. Consistently and passionately developing our skills. Empathy belongs in all facets of society: in classrooms and boardrooms. Among the spiritual and religious communities. In healthcare… everywhere! I recently facilitated a professional development class where we discussed many of the heavy topics employees and leaders alike are carrying with them at work stemming from politics, the economy, societal and environmental factors. This is a great watch to remind us that we’re all human, living this experience together… how could we improve the work experience together? How might we as leaders view our organizational challenges through the lens of empathy?
