🚧 A new Joint Code of Practice has been published to help reduce losses associated with escape of water events in the construction industry. It's the number one cause of insurable loss in construction projects and the guidance covers how incidents can be minimised and managed effectively. A key feature of the Code of Practice is how water management and leak detection devices should be installed at the earliest opportunity. Striking the Balance: Optimizing Hydrant Network Design for Safety and Compliance Ensuring fire safety is of utmost importance, particularly in designing an effective and compliant hydrant network. This network, comprising interconnected pipes, valves, and hydrants, is vital for delivering the necessary water flow during firefighting operations. When optimizing a hydrant network design, it is essential to carefully balance efficiency and adherence to relevant codes and standards. Efficiency concerns maximizing water flow while minimizing costs and resource utilization, considering factors such as pipe diameter, pump selection, and hydrant placement. On the other hand, code compliance ensures that the design meets minimum requirements established by organizations like the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), encompassing aspects such as water flow, hydrant spacing, and system functionality. At Paradigm we specialize in optimizing hydrant network designs, leveraging our team's expertise and advanced engineering techniques. Our approach involves a thorough assessment of site-specific conditions, strict adherence to code requirements, evaluation of cost considerations, and a focus on long-term sustainability. Our expertise offers several benefits, including enhanced fire protection through optimized systems, reduced costs by minimizing expenses, compliance with regulations to avoid fines, and providing peace of mind to building owners and occupants. In conclusion, optimizing hydrant network design is essential for effective fire protection. Paradigm Fire Protection's approach ensures safety, cost-effectiveness, and compliance, providing peace of mind to all stakeholders involved. ✅A backflow preventer is a crucial component in drainage and plumbing systems designed to prevent the reverse flow of water or other liquids into the system where it could contaminate the potable water supply or cause other issues. It ensures that water flows in only one direction, preventing contamination from sources such as sewage, chemicals, or other undesirable fluids. ✅In drainage systems, backflow preventers are typically installed at strategic points where there is a risk of backflow occurring, such as at cross-connections with other plumbing systems or at points where the drainage system might be subjected to pressure changes. They come in various types and sizes depending on the specific application and regulatory requirements. #plumbing #mep #mechanicalengineering #engineer

I am super proud of myself and all the achievements supported by many colleagues, especially by Sam Ellis. Together, we have made significant strides in the realm of sustainability, and I want to share this pride with all of you who are tirelessly working towards a greener future. To you all Sustainability Managers and Manufacturers in the UK in our journey towards a more sustainable future, we often face significant challenges. Obtaining budget and resources can seem like a formidable task. But I urge you not to give up. The obstacles you encounter are merely stepping stones to success, and there are always additional ways to overcome them. One highly effective process to follow is TM65. This procedure is not only manageable but is also incredibly well-supported by the CIBSE team. Trust me when I say it is worth every effort. As someone who has faced similar challenges, I understand the hurdles of presenting new ideas, initiating change, and standing at the beginning of the sustainability curve. You might encounter skepticism, or even become the subject of jokes. But remember, the laughter comes from those who do not yet see your vision. It's essential to build resilience. Keep following the path you know is right, and seek out the resources and budget creatively. Consider forming free volunteer committees to support your initiatives. It's up to you to drive the change. To those who may laugh, think of the future generations. Your efforts today are paving the way for a better tomorrow. Here are a few ways to build resilience and continue your impactful work: 🍀 Network and Collaborate: Connect with other sustainability leaders and organizations. Share knowledge and resources to strengthen your initiatives. 🍀 Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in sustainability. Knowledge is power, and it can help you make a stronger case for your projects. 🍀 Advocate and Educate: Educate others about the importance of sustainability. The more people understand, the more support you will garner. 🍀 Be Persistent and Patient: Change takes time. Be persistent in your efforts and patient with the process. 🍀 Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate small achievements. They can boost morale and keep you motivated. Your dedication and hard work are invaluable. Stay resilient, keep pushing forward, and continue to be the change-makers we need. The future is brighter because of you. You have amazing team at CIBSE CIBSE Certification Ltd supported amazingly by all for me big thank you goes to Kieran O'Brien and team. #sustainability #EmbodiedCarbon #Certification #Resilience

"Corrosive liquids can contain harmful chemicals that are detrimental to drain, waste and vent (DWV) piping systems that are not designed or rated for chemical use. These chemicals may create noxious or toxic fumes or interfere with sewage treatment processes. The International Plumbing Code (IPC) has clear provisions for addressing this challenge." Insulated panel systems have always provided a fast track, straightforward method of construction that brings with it an assurance of performance, along with a number of other benefits. One of the major advantages of using an insulated panel system is that it requires only a single fix installation. This naturally reduces construction time, makes project completion more predictable, and is less labour intensive, so there are potentially considerable cost savings to be made but, more importantly, there can also be significant health and safety benefits. 🏗️ Read more in our ‘Safe Handling of Insulated Panels including use of Mechanical Handling Equipment’ guide: https://zurl.co/uu7d 🏗️ #MechanicalHandling #Safety #InsulatedPanels #BuildingEnvelope
