It's finally out - last but not least, episode 10 dealing with Women's Health and Advocacy! It was an honor to work with the Mebala team contributing to a series of podcasts that shed light on our experiences as women. In this episode, I delve into women's health and my advocacy work intended to amplify health as a human right and unpack some issues around access to healthcare services. On the episode I talk a little about how structural and social determinants of health have an impact on our ability to access healthcare services. Additionally, I unpack comprehensive sexual education and why it's important to equip the youth with education enabling them to make safe sexual choices - more so considering that our youth are engaging in sexual activities earlier. I also talk about the importance of access to free and safe termination of pregnancy services for adolescent girls, young women and women in a country like 🇧🇼 where child marriages still occur and marital rape is not considered a crime. Thank you Mebala for the opportunity. This episode is dedicated to women who are displaced and still struggle to access basic healthcare services because of natural or man made disasters, wars, conflicts or the failure of our governments. #Fromtherivertothesea #AlleyesonSudanandDRC #healthisahumanrighteveninwarsandconflict
