Processed vs. Ultra-Processed: Know the Difference! 🌽🍞 Eat processed with common ingredients at home. For ultra-processed, remember to consume fiber! 🌿 Processed foods and ultra-processed foods are often confused, but they have distinct differences. Processed foods are those that have been altered from their natural state for convenience, preservation, or taste enhancement. This includes items like canned vegetables, cheeses, and freshly baked bread. These foods can often be made in a home kitchen with common ingredients. On the other hand, ultra-processed foods are industrial formulations made entirely or mostly from substances extracted from foods, along with additives. These include items like soft drinks, packaged snacks, and instant noodles. They often contain ingredients that are not typically found in home kitchens and require industrial processes to create. He is right. Processed foods are food for us. The rule of thumb is that if you can process the food in your kitchen, then it's fine. If the ingredients are at home, it's fine. Ultra-processed food is a whole different ballgame.
