To celebrate National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day, #OGR caught up with members to chat about why they are so passionate for #FuneralService. Today, we talked to Geri Oliverie from Oliverie Funeral Home in Manchester, New Jersey: What made you become a funeral director? The social aspect, the gathering is so important to me. We all weave a thread in others’ life quilts. It’s nice to see the completed quilt and pay your respects to a life well lived. What is your greatest reward for being a funeral director? Growing as a compassionate person and helping others. Being a part of something larger and more important than me. Giving my family an example to help others.

This might be contentious. it seems to be that this certain Funeral Director's on Hull could well alledgedly have been " forgetting" to actually cremate the " Direct" non service deceased mostly. offering a small in house ( possibly) service with the cremation to take place later and remains returned at some point in the future. The potential impact on what is becoming a growing portion of our industry could be catastrophic. Please, for the sake of the professional, caring Funeral Director's, Crematorium, cemeteries and the whole supply and support industries , professionsl associations behind it all, can we stop hiding what we do so much, work together to open doors and allow the people of the UK who will all need us at some point, see what we do, how well the good ones do it. involve Funerl Director's, the crems and cems, invite the suppliers to the open door open day, take away the fear and uncertainty that this has caused. it really is no good hiding waiting for it to go away, it won't. if my information is wrong I apologise, but also if this is what I'm hearing so are others, so if it's perceptions or facts. we need to strike at it now. my apologies for any upset or misinformation if applicable.

I can’t endorse any one particular funeral director or funeral service provider. I work with some of the most caring service professionals in Sydney and the Central Coast. But by looking at Scott’s attached post, you will see all the items that can be the content of every funeral ceremony. You will need a funeral director at least a minimum of once in your life. If not twice. Take a look at Scott’s comprehensive list in his post. You will consider all the things he lists as part of an every day funeral ceremony. Knowledge is the key to a start to any project or task you will need to tackle at some point in time across the journey of a lifetime. Don’t wait until you arrive at the “cliff face” of a funeral. Know the answers to the questions before that time.

As a funeral director, you must embody a unique blend of roles. In one moment, you're the shoulder to cry on, offering solace and compassion to grieving families. In the next, you're the wielder of the drill, ensuring everything is meticulously prepared for the final farewell. And then, you transform into the electronic wizard, managing the digital elements that now play such a crucial part in commemorating lives. Each day, you balance the tangible and the intangible, the physical tasks with the emotional support. It's a role that requires resilience, empathy, and a diverse skill set. But it's also one that reminds us of the profound impact we have on those navigating one of life's most challenging transitions. In the end, being a funeral director is about more than just managing the logistics of death. It's about honoring lives, supporting communities, and helping loved ones find peace. It's a testament to the human spirit's capacity to care and to heal. I am so proud of all the funeral directors out there, new and old, working in the shadows to change lives. Your dedication and compassion make a world of difference. 🌟 #FuneralDirector #CompassionInAction #BalancingRoles #HonoringLives #EndOfLifeCare #UnsungHeroes
