A well-attended and engaged launch event last month, and I don't think it was just down to our pastry selection. It was great to see so many leaders of regulators and industry in the same room, discussing how regulation can be used effectively to deliver climate and nature goals. Regulation sometimes gets a bad reputation as being red tape that needs to be cut. Bad regulation can be that of course, but good regulation can be a helpful way to create the level playing field that industry (as well as regulators) are looking for. Regulation is an important tool in the policy arsenal - alongside taxation, subsidies and other measures - and should be used when it is the most suitable solution. This may be in more situations than we think.
