We've seen fantastic progress in HCL treatment, from initial surgeries to remove the spleen to today's cutting-edge therapies. During a recent HCLF webinar, Dr. David Hermel from the Scripps Clinic discussed work at Scripps Clinic to study a chemotherapy-free treatment for patients with classic BRAF-positive HCL. Therapies for HCL have evolved over the years, from splenectomy to interferon-based therapies and Cladribine-based therapies. The discovery of BRAF mutations in most classic HCL cases has opened up new possibilities for treatment, leading to BRAF inhibitors like Vemurafenib, which have been effective in treating other cancers, like melanoma. Materials from Dr. Hermel's May presentation are available on the HCLF website (including transcripts, slides and trial links) here: https://lnkd.in/guG8raYn

Dear Friends, this Gentle Lady 38 YRO has strong familiarity for breast cancer and has a Fibroadenoma in her LT breast (with bioptic confirmation at the 1st exam). This is its behaviour in 1 year, followed both with FFDM and with Multiparametric US. All the features show a great stability both in echogenicity and in a low vessels’ density. To be outlined the great stability also in the nodule/fat stiffness ratio in 1 year both at Strain Elastography (1,21 vs 1,27) and at Shear Wave Elastography (2,9 vs 2,1). To be understood why: § At Strain Elastography the stiffness ratio (1,21-1,27, stable in 1 year) is different from the value measured at Shear Wave Elastography (2,1-2,9) § In 1 year at Shear Wave Elastography the mean stiffness of the nodule changes from 33 kPa to 17 kPa and also the stiffness ratio changes from 2,9 to 2,1 (while at Strain Elastography no significant changes in Strain Ratio are found in 1 year).
