Let's talk about London's night-time economy... or lack of, for that matter. I spent Easter in Amsterdam, and I must say, it makes London look like it's sleeping on developing a true 24-hour city offering. Amsterdam's Night Culture Implementation Agenda [2023-2026] initiative allocates funding to establishing new night culture locations as part of its 24-hour licensing offer, developing a pioneering pilot program for sound insulation to target noise-related challenges, and investing heavily into nurturing young talent within the scene, to name a few. A stark alternative to London’s nightlife, with venues closing faster than most other UK cities. Capital nightclubs have fallen by more than half during the past ten years, with less than 200 still in operation. Don't even get me started on the declining levels of LGBTQ+ spaces... and Hackney, where I live, where most curfews are midnight on weekends, and 11:00pm during the week - hardly worth leaving the house for. Yes, there are many factors at play like flexible working, unreliable transport, drinks costing a bomb, anti-social behaviour etc but London really needs to develop a proper plan which encourages venues rather than hinders them. The way my generation socialise and party has fundamentally changed and it needs to be reflected in the offering, as heading to other cities is becoming the more attractive option for going out. #Nightlife #London #Amsterdam #RealEstate #Property

I create Inclusive, Accessible Events for Corporations and Small Businesses | DEI Events Business Accessibility Strategist| Educator and Thought Leader | Life Storyteller & Advocate for Disability Inclusion
“Why now?” you ask. The better question is, why not sooner? Disabled business owners are eager to collaborate, yet so many networking events are neither accessible nor representative. Enough is enough. I’m hosting an afternoon tea at Kew Gardens, and it’s not just about luxury—it’s about levelling the playing field. Opulent Access Events is where inclusivity meets opportunity, and you don’t want to miss this. Let’s set a new gold standard for networking. Sign up now and be part of the change that’s long overdue. https://lnkd.in/eRfMHdDT #disabledinclusive #luxurynetworking #luxuryconnections #blackowned #blackanddisabled #dei

📣 The point is comfortable exclusion. Like with any other elite space, distinctions drawn between who is 'in' and 'who is 'out' to ensure only '(great) people like me' are part of the club is just one part of the story. The other part is the walls around these spaces sustained by staff and guarded entrances, in-person only interactions, strict rules re sharing of what is said and done, and yes sociological sameness of members, which means you can speak comfortably, you can feel at ease, with a higher expectation that you won't in any way be judged for what you do or say. Add to this decades of sociological research demonstrating that who we know well through frequent personal interaction (and see as similar to ourselves) equals who we trust equals who we first think of and lobby for when work or business opportunities arise (i.e. it is not about coaching on your way to the c-suite, it is about mentoring), and you have the perfect recipe for preferrential treatment, nepotism and exclusion at the corporate and social top. This is how elite social reproduction happens. This is how concentrations of power in certain bodies with certain backgrounds are socially sustained. This is why people pay for and tap others for recommendations into such clubs. It is not because the drinks are better or the chairs are comfier. It is because the relationships are more exclusive and more productive, and they make their members individually more exclusive and productive too. We should stop pretending they are anything else. #leadership #management #peoplefirst #gender #equality #equity #HR #privateclub #privateclubs #garrickclub

I create Inclusive, Accessible Events for Corporations and Small Businesses | DEI Events Business Accessibility Strategist| Educator and Thought Leader | Life Storyteller & Advocate for Disability Inclusion
Inclusive events aren’t just the future—they’re the standard. Here’s how we’re setting the bar with our events at Kew Gardens. Some businesses are stuck in the past, treating inclusivity as a “nice-to-have.” But attendees and clients are demanding more from events, expecting accessibility to be a priority. At our October event at Kew Gardens, we’re showing how inclusivity is no longer optional—it’s the standard. This event will lead the charge in setting a new benchmark for accessible, engaging, and impactful events. Be part of the change that’s redefining event standards. Reserve your place at Kew Gardens and learn how to lead with inclusivity! [**Get your tickets today!**](https://lnkd.in/ewBk_3im) Together, we can set the standard for future events. #accessiblenetworking #disabledinclusive #luxurynetworking #luxuryconnections #blackowned #blackanddisabled #dei

Customer Success leader skilled in strategy, marketing, enablement, and scalability. Masterful in operations and program management, with a sprinkle of fun!
🌍✨ Today, we celebrate International Allyship Day – a day to honor and amplify the importance of being an ally in our workplaces, communities, and everyday lives. Being an ally means more than just standing beside someone; it involves active listening, learning, and advocating for those whose voices are often marginalized. It's about recognizing our privilege and using it to foster inclusivity, equity, and justice. As we navigate our diverse world, let’s commit to: **Educate Ourselves:** Seek out resources, stories, and perspectives different from our own. **Speak Up:** Challenge discrimination and bias whenever we see it. **Support Others:** Stand in solidarity with marginalized communities, offering our support and advocacy. **Create Safe Spaces:** Foster environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard. #InternationalAllyshipDay #Inclusivity #Diversity #Equity #Allyship #Support #TogetherWeRise
