As a reminder, if your US employer engages in layoffs, even if you are not laid off, your employer may be unable to sponsor you for a green card through traditional PERM labor certification. This is because of technical rules that make it hard for employers to both lay people off and file PERM applications. Meanwhile - if you are in H-1B status, your H-1B time is ticking. ••• For engineers experienced in chip-making, you could be well-suited to self-petition for a green card through EB-2 NIW. EB-2 NIW is not for everyone, that is, not everyone is eligible but there are clear benefits to having a green card process attached to yourself, not your employer. •••

It has been just a week since the layoffs at Xerox took place, this message is for any of those affected who are now actively looking for their next career or just want someone to talk to. I too was affected and would like to help if you need some job-hunting advice! Feel free to message me and we can talk, I have connections with many of the OEMS as well as independent dealers across the US! I would suggest doing the following: ⭐ First, stay positive and try not to take this personally. I know this is easy to say and harder to do! You do have skills and talents that would be well appreciated at other companies! ⭐ Update your resume and use ChatGPT to help with the wording ⭐ Make a list of companies you would like to work for and look for connections on LinkedIn -if you see I have connections there I would be more than willing to make an introduction! ⭐ Look for the person/persons responsible for recruiting at those companies, many times you can simply search for "Recruiter" at "ABC Company." ⭐ Try using Indeed and set up alerts based on your skills, interests, geography and salary requirements. ⭐ Think outside the box - just because you did X does not mean you can't do Y. Or take it a step further and look completely outside the industry all together - this is a great opportunity to reinvent yourself! ⭐ Try connecting with Copier Careers - look for Jenna Humbert and connect! ⭐ If you are in #texas , connect with Julia Norwich, she is looking for Talented People ! #hiringnow ⭐ Another great resource is The Job Helpers - connect with amanda@thejobhelpers.com Stay active and set a goal for new job recruiting every day and then make time to do something for yourself that you might not have normally had time to do!
