I am delighted to share that I will be attending the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) next week. The event which will be hosted by Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) in Abu Dhabi provides another opportunity to see the amazing progress and fantastic projects taking off in UAE’s energy space. The World Future Energy Summit is part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) initiative, providing many successful conferences over the past few years. The Haig Barrett team have attended many of these sessions that ADSW have put on including last year’s COP28 in Dubai, where Rory Broomfield and I got a peek into the future of Masdar City via this blue-print plan turned into a model, Masdar City is being built section by section. All events put on have provided a fantastic global platform for accelerating the world’s sustainable development. These events bring together a range of stakeholders and dignitaries - including heads of state, policy makers, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and youth - to discuss and engage on bold climate action and innovations that will ensure the next generation a sustainable world - We are very excited to be a part of this.   Previous speakers at ADSW conferences have included HM King Charles III, which reflects the importance the UK also gives to these conferences, and has focused on accelerating the world’s sustainable development with three principles in mind: Global Collaboration & Leadership, Economic Development, and Technology & Innovation.   At Haig Barrett Partners, we’ve been proud to assist in the ongoing transformation of the UAE’s economy. We can’t have AI and Renewable Energy in the same sentence without touching on the amount of energy data centers consume and with the AI boom the energy consumption by data centers is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. Sage Lenier broke this down best via this video https://lnkd.in/dy6BY7GQ she highlighted a tough reality: “One of the grimmest facts I will share with you today is that none of the renewable energy we are building is helping to solve climate change.”  As Sage aptly puts it, “Our global demand for energy increases so much that the renewable capacity we build is only offsetting the additional growth. In 2022 data centers consumed 2% of global energy demand equivalent to the entire country of Colombia before the AI boom started in Nov of 2022. With this context, a project funded by the UNDP was carried out, which had as its main objective: 👉Bring solar energy to 11 priority health centers in the region🏥 The Azimut360 team was able to contribute: 🔸Making a technical evaluation and the installation of photovoltaic systems. 🔸Implementing storage batteries to guarantee a constant electricity supply.
