This ad from Ridge needs to be in your swipe file. Shooting a gun at your product = the most insane hook ever Here's why marketers should add this to their ad swipe files. 1. Action packed hook - 3 jump cuts in 3 seconds, emotionally charged music, and a compelling scripted voiceover hitting you simlutaneously. 2. Insane product demo - Take one value prop and spin it into a crazy stunt filmed by a customer/user and you've got GOLD. 3. Lo-fi video + hi-fi graphics - Just add a little polish from your brand to some lo-fi ugc footage and you've got content that blends perfectly into the feed. Shout-out to Connor MacDonald and the Ridge team for an absolute masterclass in creative UGC ad formats.

Creative director & world builder for game studios | Ex-Star Wars | 16 years in game dev & marketing
How can you create something original within an established IP? It’s a challenge I faced almost daily as the marketing creative director on #starwars at Electronic Arts (EA). On the one hand, there’s a galaxy to explore in new directions. On the other, there’s expectations to accurately reflect the IP’s past and present - both by the franchise owner and the audience. When I hear audiences say something like, “it doesn’t feel like the brand” what they’re often saying is that it doesn’t evoke the FEELINGS they had when they first fell in love with it. The irony is that you can’t recreate those butterflies by giving them the same thing. They want to be surprised, be awed, be transported. They want to think! This only happens when we venture into the new. This is hard to do, and even harder to sell through. It’s often not your job to be “new.” So what I do is ZOOM IN instead. Pick a teeny, tiny corner to play in. If you go too wide, you’re likely to make waves for others in the same pool. Like Jon Favreau. It's okay to stay small - better even. Or take something ordinary and look at it from the other side. For instance, when I was working on this short film for #swtor, I asked myself "what happens to all those orphan kids that AREN'T recruited by the Jedi?" Think about those FEELINGS the audience expects. How will your line surprise them? How will a single shot make them think? My advice is to get original in those micro details. The goal is to create an original thread woven seamlessly into the tapestry of the larger brand. Lastly – none of this happens without trust. Respect the brand and its owners. Remember, you’re playing with someone else’s toys. Prove you won’t break them and they’ll let you play some more. :) May the Force be with you. ---- I’m Neel! There are many ways you can deliver your content: blogs, advertisements, case stories, and success stories. But Different formats cater to different preferences and behaviours of audiences. Blogs, case studies and success stories are for those who like a good read and analysis, while advertisements often struggle to hold attention in a world saturated with promotional messages and are usually skipped. Given the visual nature of our wowk we decided to use a gallery. Galleries are formats that offer small, easily digestible bites of content that are gaining popularity for their ability to quickly engage audiences. They should be especially effective in today's fast-paced digital environment where attention spans are shorter and people are constantly multitasking. This shift towards shorter, more visually appealing formats like galleries, infographics, short videos, and social media posts aligns well with the trend of consuming content on mobile devices. It's all about providing information in a way that's convenient and engaging for the audience. Check out our gallery page at the Wow Studio.

Conquering YouTube as an INFLUENCER? - A reminder to myself 🔽 1. CONSISTENCY: It isn't just about frequency; it extends to the quality of your content and your interaction with subscribers. It's a long term relationship. 2. SEO: It isn't just for websites. It's the backbone of your channel's visibility. 3. FILMING: Behind every successful video lies hours of planning, editing, and marketing. A one-man show is rarely the case. 4. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Your subscribers aren't just numbers. They're your community, your supporters. Engage with them, value them. 5. PATIENCE: Overnight success is a myth. Patience is your ally in this journey of uncertainty and sporadic growth. - We have launched an educational YouTube Channel for filmmakers with a trailer for our reality show: https://lnkd.in/g_QwZ6Wq More exciting videos coming soon. I look forward to covering the #SuperBowl — this is my 22nd year (!!) writing about #SuperBowlCommercials, and I always find something new to explore. Today I posted a fun story for Forbes Entertainment: I interviewed director Adam Morse about becoming the first person with blindness to direct a #SuperBowl ad. It's a nice bit of storytelling mashed up with a lesson about #accessibility features; so far definitely ranks among the top ads I've seen for Sunday's game. Here's a quote from Morse that didn't make the story. I asked him about how he came up with the idea to simulate blindness by smearing Vaseline on the camera: "The question I asked myself was, 'How do I how do I make this this blind effect as as real as possible and not, you know, a gimmick.' And so the first thing that came to my mind that seemed obvious to me was to make it real and to impair the camera lens for real rather than playing with, you know, different tricks in post production because my philosophy as a filmmaker is always to fix it on sets." (Also, shout-out to Otter.ai for the transcript: I use this to transcribe all my Zoom interviews, and it makes a huge difference to be able to engage in a conversation vs. scribbling notes the whole time. This has been a #journalism game-changer for me since I discovered it three years ago.) #SuperBowlLVIII #SuperBowl2024 #SuperBowlAds #BigGame #Marketing #Directing https://lnkd.in/eFgN2R3p
