Should Canadian neighborhoods adopt HOAs? 🏘️
I know it’s a double-edged sword and the old adage "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. But I've seen so many charming neighborhoods, once full of pride of ownership, now converted into weed-infested parking lots. 🚗🌾
Municipalities have publicly proclaimed that they do not have enough by-law enforcement officers to investigate all community complaints. This raises an important question: could HOAs provide the needed oversight to maintain our neighborhoods' beauty and value?
What do you think? Are HOAs the solution, or do they create more problems than they solve?

Coming off the biggest lending year in our history, BlueHub Loan Fund President Karen Kelleher sat down with Banker & Tradesman's Steve Adams to talk about our work financing community development projects in low-income communities nationwide.
"Boston and Massachusetts are doing things that are really innovative and impactful, but our national platform and reach gives us the ability to take the innovation here and bring it to other places,” said Kelleher.

For those who may be on the fence regarding the Bring Chicago Home real estate transfer tax ballot initiative, please reading this thoughtful analysis from a Chicago small business owner.
Just posted my full opening statement from this afternoon.
Why Business Owners Should be a Yes for Bring Chicago Home. Was cut short during my 5 min intro at SBAC & the Chamber's Forum on the proposed Chicago RETT increase (https://lnkd.in/gtCxd2Se)
There is no bogeyman here. I know there is more real estate representation than people experiencing/addressing homelessness on LinkedIn, but its worth seeing some other facts (https://lnkd.in/gu2Jc2pG)
Good article, and an important one, Tom. Good to see the author highlight new developments - in MD and VA - as well as the importance of zoning changes, such as in Jackson, MS. Every municipality needs to eliminate these damaging rules that limit homeownership options simply due to construction method and old biases. Nice to Next Step Network and Pew Research Center in the article.
From homeless to providing housing for thousands....
There were a lot of reasons I was drawn to OneApp Guarantee before joining the team.
- Great worklife balance.
- Incredible team members.
- True product/market fit.
But what truly inspired me, was their "why."
I find that our little space we call #multifamily can get crowded quickly.
- An exciting widget!
- The next big leasing service.
- CENTRALIZATION
But when you pump the breaks for a moment, and really look around, there is a discouraging lack of purpose.
And what is this industry truly all about?
Providing people a home.
📖 Tyrone Poole, the founder of OneApp Guarantee experienced the crisis of accessible housing first hand.
Tyrone was training to become a Fireman when he fell and injured his leg.
The injury left him drowning in medical bills, unable to work and eventually homeless.
A guy like you or me, working hard towards a goal, crushed by the accidents of life and left with nobody to help.
After finding a homeless shelter that would provide him a rent slip, he began his apartment search.
How better equipped can you be? A potential renter applying to apartments with rent promised every month!!
Denied.
And again, and again, and again. Denied.
There lied the problem.
An individual, burdened by the unforeseeable's of life, punished by a system meant to provide.
Thus, OneApp Guarantee was born.
A company to finally take a second look at people like Tyrone and say "we are here to help."
Since then, OneApp Guarantee's no-cost leasing tool has opened apartment doors for thousands of individuals and added countless millions of dollars to owners and operators bottom lines.
Most importantly, they have chartered the fight to battle the housing crisis plaguing every day Americans just like you and me.
