Lessons learned: participating in EU projects THEIA-XR was one of the examples of projects when Pekka Yli-Paunu was sharing his experience with EU funded projects to Finnish SMEs and repesentatives from Large Enterprises in a regional event in Tampere. In his presentation, Pekka was covering the entire process from reasons to participate over the proposal phase to the now running execution of the project. Lithuania has climbed to 22nd place in the World Digital Competitiveness rankings, leading the Baltics.   In the 2024 World Digital Competitiveness Ranking published by IMD, Lithuania climbed 6 positions, securing 22nd place out of 67 evaluated countries. Lithuania is scoring particularly well in the 'readiness for the future' category, ranking 17th.   The 2024 index is led by Singapore, Switzerland, and Denmark, while the United States, which was first last year, has dropped to fourth place.   Lithuania's rapid digitalisation and significant improvements across all categories demonstrate its readiness for future challenges. Strengthening Innovation and Collaboration for EU Candidate Countries A productive meeting was held with Mr. Bulent Ozcan, Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for EU Affairs, and Mr. Ozgur CIVI, Board Member of MİA Teknoloji—a pioneering Unicorn startup companys with offices in Ankara, New York, and Rabat. The discussions centered on enhancing Turkish participation in direct and centralized EU funding programs, including Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, with a focus on R&D+I projects and strategies to increase the involvement of Turkish entities. The event also featured a presentation of the strategic vision and plans for 2025–2026 by ACRID Network and EMKICE KIC, highlighting their shared commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration. With 18 dedicated teams across 10 countries, including six in Türkiye, and established offices in Brussels and Malmö, the organizations are preparing for further expansion to Geneva and Trieste. Special recognition was given to MİA Teknoloji and Gazi University at #GolbasiTeknoPark for hosting the event and organizing expert-led presentations that showcased impactful contributions to innovation and collaboration. This week we had a pleasure to host our ISMEF project partners meeting in Tallinn at ITL Estonia office. ISMEF is an acronym for ‘Increasing international sales in the intelligent and sustainable mobility sectors of Estonia and Finland’. The project’s aim is to support Finnish and Estonian mobility companies and related ICT service providers to develop competitive cross-border service and product offers for three international target markets: North America, the Gulf region, and the UK. We are doing this together with ITS Estonia, ITL and ITS Finland as part of Central Baltic Programme 💪.
