INTERREG-B CALLS FOR PROPOSALS - 2nd half 2024: Interreg Baltic Sea Region Call for platforms. In this third post on Interreg Transnational Cooperation calls we would like to inform you about an open call within the Interreg #BalticSeaRegion. We from blue! advancing european projects are happy to cooperate with a wide range of partners in the area, such as TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, Baltic Environmental Forum Deutschland e. V., Turku University of Applied Sciences or Region Midtjylland. The peculiarity of this call is that it is aimed at receiving proposals for project platforms. Its main features: 🌍 The Transnational Programme area covers 9 countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, parts of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and parts of Norway. 📈 A Project platform muss be focused on #capitalisation: based on outcomes of ongoing or completed projects (at least 2 projects from Interreg Baltic Sea Region and 1 from another funding programme), it supports public authorities and relevant organisations in improving policies. 🤝The main actors in a project consortium will be public authorities, but other organisations such as associations, interest groups, or NGOs may also be involved, from local to pan-Baltic and international level. 🎯 The Programme thematic objectives cover a wide range of topics. It will be particularly valued that the Platforms contribute to: - Smart and sustainable cities attractive to citizens - Improving mental health & well-being - Sustainable transformation through social innovations - Creative industries and culture sector resilience - Advancing natural and cultural heritage assets - Closing water and nutrient loop - Resilient coastal management - Preventing pollution by hazardous substances - Safe navigation on sea - Circular bioeconomy - Renewably powered communities - Circular food systems - Taking up alternative fuels - Active and efficient urban transportation 💶The total budget of a project platform must not exceed EUR 1,200,000 and it would be finance up to 80% from ERDF and Norwegian national funding.   📅 Deadline to submit the project platform idea form: 21 October 2024. If your organisation has results from Projects (not only funded by Baltic Sea Region) and you think it can be the seed for an Interreg-funded platform, don't miss this opportunity! 🤝 Meet our partners 🤝 Today we continue our partner presentation campaign with the city of Liberec! 🌍 Liberec is a Czech municipality located very near to the border with Poland and Germany, and with about 108,000 inhabitants it’s the 5th biggest city in Czechia. Liberec is working on many activities in the field of climate mitigation and adaptation. The city has been chosen to become a member of the EU Mission 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 and delivered its City Climate Contract in 2024. Besides, the municipality developed its Climate Adaptation Strategy and Municipal Blue-Green infrastructure manual last year to cover all activities and move them forward to meet the adaptation goals. The city aims to tackle specific climate change impacts like the heat island in the city centre, droughts, and (flash) floods. To address these issues, the city will implement nature-based solutions such as planting greenery, revitalization of public spaces, parks or watercourses as well as water management solutions, including structural and technical interventions. 🎯 In ClimateFit, Liberec presents the Czech planner case study, showcasing innovative approaches to sustainable urban development and climate adaptation. We are proud to intoduce our eRural resilience - Interreg BSR project partner from Denmark - ProVarde Erhvervsudvikling.  ✅At ProVarde, we are committed to strengthening and supporting local businesses in Varde Municipality.  ✅As part of ongoing efforts to engage in international cooperation, we recently visited the Danish EU Office in Brussels to explore opportunities within EU projects. This visit underscored how EU countries can benefit from each other’s experiences and expertise, particularly when it comes to rural development and fostering innovation across regions. Through such 🌐collaborations, we gain valuable insights into how shared knowledge and cross-border cooperation can enhance local business environments. This aligns perfectly with our work in the #eruralresilience Project, where we collaborate with Tønder Erhvervsråd /Tønder Business Council and other partners to promote the growth of e-bio-businesses. 📯 We are working closely with Tønder Business Council, and their business consultant and leader of the Vores Marsk initiative, Jesper Monsrud, states: “The partnership in the eRural project allows us to bring in additional resources and knowledge. We are collaborating with ProVarde and several business offices and knowledge institutions in the Baltic Sea region to enhance our support for e-bio-businesses, including food companies.” Nikolaj Chelander Knudsen, business consultant at ProVarde, adds: “Our collaboration with Tønder Business Council, along with our participation in EU projects, provides us with a unique opportunity to share knowledge and create value for local businesses. Strengthening the food sector through combined efforts and European cooperation holds immense potential for innovation and growth.” Jesper Monsrud further elaborates: “We have established a Community Support Group consisting of key partners such as Erhvervshus Sydjylland, Food & Bio Cluster, ProVarde, Rømø-Tønder Tourist Association, and Tønder Municipality. 🤝 Meet our partners 🤝 🌍 The Department of Environment and Spatial Development (DESD) of the Flemish Government operates from an economic, ecological, and social perspective, focusing on increasing environmental quality through soil, land and spatial use, reducing pollution and nuisance, enhancing climate adaptation, ensuring and improving animal welfare, and promoting the sustainable use of resources. In doing so, DESD contributes to biodiversity, climate mitigation, sustainable material use, sustainable mobility and agriculture, a green and circular economy, a sustainable energy system, and cultural heritage. DESD plays a policy-supporting and coordinating role, ensuring alignment between policy preparation, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and evaluation. 🎯 In CLIMATEFIT, DESD represents the Flanders region as the Belgian leader case study.
