Most meetings are a waste of time. Endless updates and check-ins leave us no time to get real work done. But it doesn't have to be this way. Here's how to have better meetings: - Find your why. Before scheduling, ask yourself: "Why are we having this meeting? What do we want to achieve?" If it's just for status updates, find a better way to share that information. - Respect everyone's time: Show up on time, start on time, and end on time. Encourage people to read relevant materials beforehand to maximize discussion time. - Have an agenda: A good agenda keeps everyone on track. Clearly outline the meeting's goals and what you want to accomplish. - Focus on discussion: Avoid lengthy recaps and status updates. Instead, ask for short, written summaries beforehand. This frees up time for productive conversations. - Listen more, talk less: The more you listen, the better you understand everyone's perspective.
