#“Involution” good or bad?
Well, depends where you are currently sitted in the market, or is it more philosophical?
Yesterday in Shanghai, Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD's brand and public relations, and Yang Xueliang, a Geely senior executive, engaged in a heated discussion on the current "involution" phenomenon at the China Auto Forum in Shanghai Jiading District. The two executives had very different views, which attracted attention.
Li believes that the “involution” is good, the more Chinese car companies compete, the stronger. In his view, the “involution” is a manifestation of competition, through competition to promote the development of domestic automobiles, to promote the upgrading of technology and service.
Yang instead saw "Involution is a pejorative term, a bad phenomenon, and is synonymous with unhealthy competition. As long as the word “involution” is not eliminated, Chinese cars will not really go around the world".
Yang even went an extra step to point out, "If certain poker players are caught stealing, switching or playing with fake cards, they should be penalized consciously and proactively". By saying so, he sort of joined the chor of the Great Wall against the market leader BYD.
