Community is a complex concept that can be interpreted in various ways. However, true community can only flourish within the civil society sphere, where individuals engage in collaborative dialogue rather than viewing each other through the competitive lens often imposed by capitalism. In this context, community means sharing responsibility and ownership of resources, as opposed to competing for scarce resources. This shift from competition to collaboration allows communities to harness collective effort and create a supportive environment that values inclusivity, shared values, and collective action. #commons #civilsociety #community What does real community mean to you? 🤔
#Community is one of those buzzwords that’s become so overused it’s starting to lack meaning. We aren’t pointing fingers. At the House, we’ve certainly done our fair share of proselytizing on the joys of belonging to a group with a shared set of goals. But as the word becomes increasingly diluted, and its colloquial application keeps broadening, we’re starting to ask ourselves: in 2024, what does “community” really stand for? We invite you to share your definition in the comments below. Let’s reclaim its true essence, together.

🌍💙 Honoring the True Meaning of Community 💙🌍 Hey friends! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on something that's been on my heart lately: the overuse of the word "community" and the importance of truly honoring its meaning. In this fast-paced digital age, it's easy for us to throw around buzzwords without fully grasping their significance. But community is more than just a trendy term. It's a powerful concept that holds the potential to bring us closer together, fostering genuine connection and support. It’s important if you commit to a community that you put your heart in it. Stop asking what it can do for you and start doing what you can to help it thrive. Let's remind ourselves that community isn't just about the number of followers or likes we have. It's about building meaningful relationships, embracing diversity, and creating a safe space for everyone to be heard and valued. When we honor the true essence of community, we cultivate empathy, understanding, and a spirit of collaboration. We uplift one another, celebrate our differences, and work together towards common goals. 🙌 So, let's be mindful of how we use the word "community" and ensure that our actions align with its profound meaning. Let's foster genuine human connections. If you become a member of any community, support each other, and make a positive impact in the lives of those around you. 🌟 Remember, love and kindness are the foundations of a thriving community- and if your community needs help, practise both. Spread them generously and create a world where the word "community" truly reflects its beautiful essence. Below is where our creative community gathers [ Art Escape Studios ] to share ideas and experiences, where we impart knowledge and techniques and invite our students and guests into our world of art and culture. Where do you find community and how do you support it? #CommunityMatters #LoveAndKindness #TogetherWeThrive

Great to be part of delivering the Human Library experience for Weber Shandwick during #NationalInclusionWeek for the Human Library Organization. It's always a busy week for us! It culminated too in a keynote on #Inclusion for the NHS. #HumanLibrary encounters help us to realise that actually we know little or nothing about the next person we meet, what they are going through, how they are feeling, what they are carrying. We are reminded that no two people, who may even share the same identity, difference, diagnosis, belief or life experience, will ever be the same, agree on language or needs, and so we must treat everyone as individuals. That is why jumping to conversations not conclusions is so important, asking not assuming, listening and unlearning, and relearning how to relate to our colleagues, clients, customers, and fellow citizens, as people not as #diversity checkboxes. There are 8.2 billion versions of normal because we are all our own normal. Inclusion means taking everyone with you and leaving nobody behind. Inclusion is for all and means creating safer braver spaces to speak up in, to participate and belong. Inclusion culture, better relating and communicating, is essential to psychological wellbeing (safety and bravery) and positive productive environments in workplaces. We need to get less uncomfortable with difficult conversations, feel more at ease with making mistakes and moving through awkward human interactions. Change that creates more additive win:win situations rather than seeing everything as reductive win:lose will benefit everyone not perpetuate more internal conflict and polarisation. People are messily human, idiosyncratically individual, but wonderfully human and we need to celebrate all our differences as we simultaneously are completely unique and have more in common. Basic communicating, relating and empathy skills should be common sense, but if they were - they might be more common!
We were proud to kick off #NationalInclusionWeek with an insightful and powerful event alongside the Human Library Organization, challenging perceptions and promoting understanding. In this session, we had the chance to hear the personal life experiences of two volunteers (books) who represent stigmatised groups within the community. A big thank you to everyone who participated and to the Human Library for coordinating the event. #ImpactMatters

I loved Valentina 's idea, and I have resolved to participate in it. I firmly trust that our community is a cohesive and robust unit, capable of achieving remarkable feats when we band together. At this juncture, we have the optimal moment to derive enlightenment from tragedy, rise to the occasion, and amalgamate as a single entity to extend our support not only to the family of the young girl who met an untimely demise, but also to those businesses facing similar circumstances., as well as the owners themselves. If the employers are lacking knowledge, we can create resolutions to help them. As a community, we can cultivate educational programs, models, and even incorporate them to provide a better workplace. As a community, we can offer our backing and encouragement to employers, urging them to work in conjunction with specialist to provide training to their employees on how to handle stress or to take a breather when the burden becomes to weighty. We, as a community, hold the power to accomplish everything! The used framework can be found in the link bellow. https://lnkd.in/eTzNsuKy

Enabling Partnerships & Collaboration For Commerce Professionals Across 40+ Markets |Community Builder | Business Development| Networking | E-commerce| Retail Tech | Ad Tech| Ecom platform| B2B Community Advisor
There’s a community (nearly)everywhere. And where there’s a community, there’s opportunity. But there's a big difference between having an audience and having a community. An audience listens; a community connects. A community is about people coming together for a cause, something bigger than themselves that binds them. It’s not for everyone. Because if you try to talk to everyone, you end up talking to no one. True communities have rituals, unspoken traditions that make people feel, “I belong here.” The more I run EVOLVE Commerce Club, the more fascinated I become with the power of communities. Today in Odense, there’s an event filling the streets with children, grandparents, parents, trolls, and fairytale characters. After all, Odense is the home of H.C. Andersen. This festival, since 2002, has been dedicated to children aged 8-12, with activities centered around fairy tales and magic. What I find fascinating is how communities shape experiences. Nearly every successful venture you can think of has a community behind it. This festival for example doesn’t just bring fairy tales to life—it boosts local businesses and creates lasting memories for everyone involved. More and more, I believe community will be at the core of sales, marketing, and partnerships in the B2B space and in our case international expansion and partnerships. It’s the present—and the future. What’s your take on community? #community #evolve
