How big is your empathy circle when fighting for the cause you care about? I was reading a great article from Strong Towns (will link in comments) about how we do such a disservice to working for safer streets when we vilify the vast majority of people who choose to drive. The author instead argues for drawing a wider circle of empathy in order to bring more people around to your vision. "Let's start with empathy. Everyone in this country has been touched by road violence. Every family has lost someone, or known someone close to them who has lost someone, in an automobile crash." This is a good reminder for those of us who do advocacy work. Not everyone is going to 'get' or agree with every single nuance of every issue. And that's okay. We need to make space for collaboration before alignment, drawing larger circles around a solution that the most amount of people can see themselves in. If your vision for a better future only works for a few, it's not better.

Three reasons I'm writing this newsletter: 1) Info about Project 2025 needs to be accessible to everyone (including audio, image descriptions, and clear language); 2) We need to understand the threat of these policies in sustained, simple terms; 3) We all have a responsibility to use our skills to fight this agenda, and this is how I can use mine. Join the early subscribers and let me know what you think. PLUS: cute dog pic at the end of every post. https://lnkd.in/eKeCcT2N
If you’re not sure why Project 2025 matters, here’s an easy explainer.

When introducing an elder to a younger person, the proper order of introduction typically follows this respectful guideline: first, mention the elder's name and title, as a sign of respect, followed by the younger person's name. Including a brief context about their relationship or interests can enrich the introduction, making it more meaningful and fostering a connection between them. #introduction #finishingschool #etiquetteandmanners #mannersmatter

It is Tuesday again, so the latest Episode of 'Meet the Authors' is out now, free to watch, on youtube. Meet Dr Julia Bahner! These are short interviews with people who have written articles in the International Journal of Disability and Social Justice. Offering insights into their work and a little about themselves. I love this new feature of the journal and think in addition to being of interest to fellow researchers, these short videos would also be a great teaching resource. #Disability #DisabilityRights #SocialJustice #SocialMovements #Disabilities #Sweden https://lnkd.in/eZGpmMmr
