📣News in the world of bioinformatics!📣 Bacterial community and diversity in the rumen of 11 Mongolian cattle as revealed by 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing Through high-throughput sequencing, researchers identified over 28,000 operational taxonomic units (OTUs), revealing a rich diversity of bacteria. Dominated by Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Proteobacteria, these microbes play a crucial role in converting plant fibers into valuable resources like meat and milk. Prevotella emerged as the dominant genus. Functional predictions using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) highlighted metabolic, genetic, environmental, and cellular processes. The findings underscore the complexity and diversity of rumen bacteria in Mongolian cattle, offering insights for future investigations into the connection between microbial communities and the host's nutritional physiology. https://lnkd.in/dbGFu8Km #sequencing #science #business #bioinformatics #amplicon

For many of us, a world without flour, bread, roti, or pasta would be a dystopian nightmare. As one of the primary food sources for a significant portion of the world's population, wheat makes up a substantial part of daily diets. It is imperative to ensure its #productivity and resilience to #environmental stresses for global #FoodSecurity. Dr Nilesh D. Gawande, a PostDoctoral Fellow at IITGN’s Plant Molecular & Developmental Cell Biology Laboratory, has explored the CrRLK1L gene family in wheat by investigating their #gene structures, duplications, #evolutionary relationships with other plant species, and expression in plant development and stress response. His research focuses on crucial genes which help the plant stave off varied #abiotic and #biotic stresses, including cold, drought, heat, and plant pathogens, etc. By unraveling the roles of CrRLK1L genes in wheat reproduction and stress responses, Dr Gawande aims to provide insights into understanding the essential function of these genes. This could potentially facilitate the development of targeted strategies for crop improvement. Read more about the research here: https://lnkd.in/dgTxemqz. The research was supported by the DBT Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship Grant and IITGN’s start-up grant. Today at #IBMCPSEMINARS Pierre-Marc Delaux biologist from CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique & LRSV_Toulouse will talk about Evolution of plant-microbe interactions 📅 8th March, 12:30 horas. We wait for you! Plants interact with a huge diversity of microorganisms in associations ranging from parasitic to mutualistic, with either bacteria or filamentous fungi or oomycetes. Since plants colonized lands 450 million years ago, these associations have evolved in opposite directions. Mutualism has been maintained for hundreds of million years whereas the interactions with parasites are fast evolving. Studying the interactions between plant lineages spanning 500 million years of diversification and multiple microorganisms, our goals are to discover the plant molecular mechanisms behind mutualistic and parasitic interactions with microorganisms and to understand how they evolved. I will present our recent progress combining comparative genomics, biochemistry and genetics in multiple species, and exemplify how this knowledge can be translated into innovation.
