More history for our 40th year! 2018 was a busy period for inTouch program development. Alongside the creation of our inSpire initiative and our Survivor-Advocate group, NOOR, inTouch also launched Motivation for Change, our program for men who use violence. Based on our successful inLanguage, inCulture model for victim-survivors, the program is the first of its kind as it is specifically tailored to men from culturally and linguistically diverse communities who use violence towards family members. MfC continues to grow and work successfully with this cohort of men- about 130 individuals each year.

It may look like our school is a lot of free play outdoors. And it 100% is. Because they’re kids and that’s what their bodies and brains need. But these small heroes are not to be underestimated. They also: Engage in diplomatic, socratic discussion—daily. They courageously solve interpersonal disputes without adult intervention—daily. They hold each other accountable—daily. They find creative ways to solve their OWN problems—daily. They set up, amend and vote on their community’s systems—daily. They are in the details and in charge of their own education—daily. They are learning to be exceptional humans that think CRITICALLY and are willing to fail in the process—daily. Do they learn math? Yes. Do they learn science? Yes. Do they learn to read? Yes. Of course they do. I don’t know many parents that wouldn’t sign off on an education without those elements. But the emphasis is on something else—it’s on championing amazing people and future leaders who know how to think for themselves, take a stand for their beliefs and interact with peers, guardians and leaders in a respectful, productive way. At Acton we ENCOURAGE failure. Often. When the stakes are low. Don’t you wish you’d have learned to fail well earlier on? I do. People ask me often about Acton. It’s hard to explain it easily. It’s layered and messy and beautiful and profound. It challenges us as a family. And I think that’s just the beauty of not being able to easily answer… “What is Acton?”

Kedleston Group homes use the PACE approach. By encouraging and facilitating play-based activities, children are more able to engage their imagination, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. PACE stands for Playful, Accepting, Curious and Empathetic and it focuses on creating a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes well-being and development. It encourages a positive culture across the home for staff as well as children. Read more about how Kasey* was supported to return home by the team at Dovedale who helped his school and parent understand more about the approach and how to apply its principles in day-to-day life. https://ow.ly/AAjG50RR6WV

Celebrating and supporting fathers to lead successful families, in the home, out of the home or while incarcerated.
Fathers play a pivotal role in preventing abuse and creating a safe environment for their children. Their active presence and engagement can significantly reduce the risk of abuse. By being involved in their children’s lives, fathers help build trust and open communication channels, making it easier for children to share their experiences and concerns. Moreover, fathers who model respectful behavior and healthy relationships set a powerful example for their children to follow. And at Birthright Living Legacy, we emphasize the importance of fatherhood in creating safe spaces for kids through our various programs and support networks. By stepping up and being present, fathers can be the cornerstone of safety and stability in their children’s lives.

Being a Seedling mentor brings more joy to my week! Catching up with my mentee, playing games, and seeing her progress over the past 2 years has been a rewarding experience. Showing up just for her however she needs me to show up is helping her build trust and confidence. By spending one lunch with a child each week at a nearby school, you can make a world of difference. Message me or Seedling with any questions and consider applying today! #BeAMatch #SeedlingMentors #MentorNurtureGrow #MentoringMatters
We have been busy this summer gearing up for the 2024-2025 school year! As always, we are doing everything possible to bring Seedling mentors to more children who are impacted by parental incarceration. Are you interested in becoming a mentor? Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gpt-6y4V

Changing lives for the better is why we, at Bet Tzedek, do this work. In the 1980s — a decade that concluded with our initial 16 years of service — we helped tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents uphold their legal rights and, hence, create greater stability and security in their lives. This includes assisting more than 9,000 clients in 1987 alone, according to a December 1988 issue of the Los Angeles Times. Housing stability, access to public benefits, and assistance with conservatorship and advance planning, for example, allowed individuals to thrive then and for generations to come, and that’s what Bet Tzedek’s support enabled throughout the decade. #50YearsOfJusticeForAll

Working for a purpose led organisation is super important for me when choosing a new role. We all want to be a part of something meaningful—it’s in our DNA as humans to find our purpose. For 50 years, Bidvest Noonan has been a business that makes a difference in the world—and I’m so proud today to share our purpose statement which honours this 50-year legacy and the exceptional people who have made this business what it is. Our purpose is to proudly create safer and healthier communities today, for tomorrow. Bidvest Noonan is a business rooted in relationships—a business where our people play a vital role in the communities and towns where we live and work. There’s no better way to tell the story of our purpose than for you to meet the people who inspire us and serve as an example of what it means to proudly create safer and healthier communities. As we look to the future, it’s these relationships—with our people and customers—that will enable another 50 years of success and positive impact on the world.
Last week, we launched our purpose: to proudly create safer and healthier communities today, for tomorrow. As part of our ongoing Purpose Hero series, we are sharing stories of colleagues who truly embody this purpose and make a difference in our communities. Today, we share Marilyn’s story. Marilyn, a member of our team at Dinnington Interchange, recounts an incident where, while carrying out her regular duties, she noticed a man in distress and immediately took action. What followed revealed the true power of quick thinking and compassion in the face of an emergency. #Purpose #Facman #PurposeDriven #CommunityImpact #BidvestNoonan
