So today is international suicide prevention day under the theme, 'CHAN GING THE NARATIVE ON SUICIDE'. Suicide can be prevented. It's okay not to be okay, but it's not okay to struggle or suffer alone. Suicide can be prevented, hence we need safe spaces where people can open up about their problems without feeling judged. How do we change the narrative? By educating our parents about suicide, the problems that leads to suicide and how they can offer support. Let's educate our peers about suicide prevention and how they can support or help someone who is suicidal. The theme calls us to act on suicide prevention through raising awareness on suicide and educating communities so as to break or minimize the stigma around mental health issues and suicide. Be the support system of those struggling rather than laughing about it or saying they are weak. #SPM24 #Bethere #showyoursupport

🕊️ World Suicide Prevention Day 2024 🕊️ According to the WHO, more than 700,000 lives are lost to suicide globally. Each of these deaths leaves lasting emotional, social, and economic impacts on families, friends, and entire communities. This year's theme, "Changing the Narrative on Suicide", calls on all of us to reduce stigma and start open, compassionate conversations that can help prevent suicide. 🫂 As we move forward with this year's theme, let's advocate for policies prioritising mental health care, ensuring access to necessary support services, and offering compassion to those in need. 💛 Together, we can change the narrative and work towards a world where suicide is preventable. 💙 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangingTheNarrative #Remedium #NHS #UK

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide, like many other mental health topics, has been tabooed to talk about. This stigma increases the likelihood of isolation and avoidance when a person is dealing with unstable thoughts and feeling alone. My dad took his own life 14 years ago and 25 years before that, his older brother did the same. To help encourage open conversations and prevent suicides, the World Health Organization's triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action "Start the Conversation." Changing the narrative on suicide is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support. If you or someone you know has thoughts about suicide, call or text the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or visit International Association for Suicide Prevention (https://lnkd.in/g_HXTuDu) to find an intersectional helpline resource. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangingTheNarrativeOnSuicide #StartTheConversation

World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is observed annually on September 10th to raise awareness about suicide and promote efforts to prevent it worldwide. Established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the day serves as a platform to bring together governments, organizations, and individuals to address the global issue of suicide. The observance aims to encourage open conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and advocate for supportive policies and interventions. To support WSPD, individuals can participate in local and online events, educate themselves and others about the signs of suicide risk, offer emotional support to those struggling, and advocate for better mental health resources and policies. #PCMA #PCMAGMC #Help #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention

Working with business leaders, educators & HR professionals to achieve a happier, engaged community through Mental Health training
Content Notice: Mentions suicide rates We are pushing forward the mental health agenda, raising awareness, striving to make change, building literacy, and tackling stigma. 💔 It saddens me to have read in the last couple of weeks that suicide rates in England & Wales are at their highest since 1999. As I write this, my heart feels heavy. 🗓️ It’s World Suicide Prevention Day today It is however a worldwide, everyday issue. - In 2023, in England & Wales there were 6,069 registered suicides. - In 2022, there were 5,642. On average, 135 people are affected by a suicide. Realistically, the devastating impact on individuals, families, workplaces, and broader communities is immeasurable. 💡 More is needed. More investment is needed. More collaboration is needed. Working together to prevent. Let's keep going. Let's support one another, be there for one another, champion one another, advocate for one another. Let's prevent every single day. Thinking of those affected by suicide today and everyday. #suicideprevention #breakthestigma #raiseawareness #takeaction
